I'm in my first week of WW. Have lost weight with WW a long time ago, before Propoints. Just seem to keep reading/hearing about people finding the new system hard and ineffective which is quite demoralising when you've just started. I'd really like to hear some encouraging positive experiences so come on - boast away! Wink

hi all..lola how did you do this week???? Remember my week 2 stayed the same seems to be the trait - keep at it as my week 3 I lost 3 pounds and today week 4 lost another 1.5 now total 8.5lbs

Delia - go for it...I have found this new programme a stuggle and hardly touch the extra points but now Im focussed and am thinking slowly and surely

Sorry for the lack of posting havent been on Mumsnet due to illness
but back and raring to go!!!!

How's everyone else doing?

LolaLadybird · 07/04/2011 21:47

I was quite gutted about the half a pound loss to start with but I'm now thinking about it constructively and trying to work out what I did differently. One of the things was less exercise in week 2 and the other was a v naughty day last Tuesday after weigh-in which I didn't count in my points (stupid!Blush). Somehow thought that as I had another week before next weigh-in it would be OK but it's all food at the end of the day.

Well done on another loss Dilly - are you eating your weeklies again or still leaving them out?

I'm so glad I found this thread! I started the pp plan about 4 weeks ago and have lost 11lb so far. I have just had dd (9 weeks old) and went up to a size 14. I was size 10 before getting pg. I am now back down to a 12 but am still no where near my pre pg clothes unfortunately.

Having read the posts on here (and common sense tells me) I'm having too many carbs. I have 2 rounds of toast with ds for breakfast, take him school then have a ww bagel when I get back. This is my treat because I love them!

LolaLadybird · 07/04/2011 22:07

I love carbs too Cherry but there is no getting away from the fact that they are 'expensive' in terms of points. One of my fave breakfasts is sourdough bread with butter and jam but I'm now saving this for a weekend treat (in place of the whopper croissants I was previously scoffing on a Sunday!!).

Filling breakfasts which work for me are porridge with tsp of golden syrup (zero pp) and lots of nice berries or muesli with low fat greek yog and fruit.

Hi Lola ... Im still very cautious of the extra points in fact I probably use around 10 pts a week extra..also very few carbs I actually feel guilty eating them. Lola stick at it Ive spoken to lots of people who have had the odd week where they have done nothing different and they havent lost

My body/stomach has definatly shrunk...went out for Mother's Day lunch and ate 3 courses but left the dessert as my stomach was way too full...that evening didnt have a thing....usually it would of been a sandwiche for super

Cherry - your little one id very young, your body will still be adjusting itself - take your time, you will need your engergy turst me!!!!

LolaLadybird · 07/04/2011 22:24

I agree with Dilly re your LO being v young still Cherry. Possibly should have said that in first place rather than waxing lyrical about sourdough bread! Grin

I have a 4 .8 yo too Smile I have just started running again. I was doing 5 miles 3 times a week before pg, can't even do 1 mile now :-( I'm hoping that building up to that + pp will help my body get back into shape.

As for the expensive carbs. I'd happily pay with my points and have little else, but obviously come weigh day I'd regret it.

foreverondiet · 07/04/2011 22:44

cherry - have you discussed running with doctor/other professional? Although ok to do exercise after 6 weeks, my gym instructor told me not to run for 6 months as still relaxin in body and running causes risk to joints.

CherryandWhite · 07/04/2011 22:54

I asked mw she said ok after 6 weeks as long as I eased myself back into it. Tbh I wish I had waited a little longer because after a week my knees were really sore so had to stop. I have gone back out today for the first time in over a week and was much more comfortable...as for easing myself into it, I'm that out of shape I couldn't have done it any other way!

foreverondiet · 07/04/2011 23:31

cherry - most exercise is ok after 6 weeks, but running puts additional pressure on joints, such that gym instructor said it was a very bad idea before 6 months. He thought probably ok on treadmill after maybe 4 months but road running a very bad idea before 6 months.

TBH I am very surprised shocked that midwife thought running could possibly be ok - but then mine said it was ok, was the gym instructor who wasn't keen. There are lots of other exercises that can help you get fit which would put less pressure on your joints.

The other exercise that shouldn't be rushed are ab crunches - should wait until muscles have knitted together.

Interestingly I swam after 2 weeks against midwifes advise but gym instructor thought that was ok as its very low impact, not really more so than walking.

Koshka · 08/04/2011 06:33

Hi I have been doing ww for 10 weeks now and I have lost 30lbs so far. I find the pp plan really easy to follow and weigh everything - it surprised me how big my portions were!

dontdillydally · 08/04/2011 13:26

Hi Koshka 30lbs is excellent ... I find it easy to follow now, I know my limits for me the 49 extra isnt an option, the odd few a week are ok but I'd never loose any.

Interestingly when Ive voiced this to my leader she is very, very sheepish, doesnt really commit to an answer, i do get the impression that its been brought up many, many times about this new PP plan.

Im just thinking well if its coming off its coming off but its much slower than before.

I had my treat night last night (my weigh in day) and had fish and chips and an egg custard cakey thing - it was divine Smile back to soup today though!!!!! oh and had a glass of wine!

Have a great/good weekend everyone

dontdillydally · 08/04/2011 13:27

Cherry - gosh you did run alot, I dont think you are unfit I think its your body perhaps telling you youre not ready. I do admire you though 2 LO's under 5 good on you!

I am doing pilates next week first timer - really looking forward to it!

CherryandWhite · 08/04/2011 20:09

my dh has always ran and i envied the fact that he could just stick trainers on, ipod in and go out running. I mentioned this to a pe teacher friend of mine, who immediately signed me up to do a 5k race against our yr 11 pupils at school for charity. At first i was really p*** off with him, but it turned out to be the best thing i ever did! I had loads of time to train (I had never before run in my life!) the pe teacher put a training program together for me and I ran the 5k in 29 minutes Grin that was it i had the bug! I signed myself up for a race for life immediately so that i wouldnt slack off with the training. My dh said he'd sponsor me a tenner and would double it if i beat my previous time.. I did it in 24minutes!

I then set myself a bigger challenge and signed myself up for a 10k which i was due to complete at the end of May. (My grandad had been diagnosed with cancer at the time, so as really motivated!) I had worked my way up to running that distance in just over an hour (and bloody hard work it was too!) then we went to Euro disney early May, so i had a week off running, struggled the first tme i went out again and then found out i was pg the day after, so didnt run the race in the end Sad

My grandad has since died of cancer so i am determined to complete the race that i initially signed up for in his name.

sorry about the epic, but i thought i would share my story Smile

dontdillydally · 10/04/2011 22:10

Hi Cherry totally understand now but take it easy Smile

dontdillydally · 12/04/2011 11:35

Lola - how did you do today?

Im having a bad week - went for lunch today and had a burger Sad felt soooooo guilty after but I supose could of counted some of my 49.

Am doing Zuma tomorrow night so will work my booty harder than usual!

LolaLadybird · 12/04/2011 14:46

Hi Dilly - 3 lb loss today which I was v pleased/relieved about after the half pound loss last week. I only ate 29 of my weeklies and also did a lot of exercise (3 runs, 1 bike ride and 1 long walk) and didn't count the activity points.

Don't despair about the burger - I had a super yummy lunch on Saturday as we went to see my brother and he is a v good cook. Chicken wrapped in parma ham, fries, mayo etc and then coffee and cake later in the afternoon. I just counted all of it from my weeklies and was then back on the wagon on Sunday.

Have a challenging 2 weeks now as we are away next week (going to see in-laws) so no weigh-in and have the challenge of being away from home (usually equals eating what I want in my book!) plus Easter weekend - aargh.

dontdillydally · 12/04/2011 14:57

great news well done - I too lost the 3lbs after the previous week of staying the same - we sound like we are pretty similar. I had the burger yesterday sorry not today but didnt eat any tea last night as was still really full

Im going away too in 2 weeks so need to try and be good or at least track everything but hoping to do lots of walking

keep in touch!

dontdillydally · 14/04/2011 10:07

oh dear put on 1lb today Sad - havent tracked this week but didnt think I'd gone over

LolaLadybird · 14/04/2011 22:41

That's a bummer Dilly but don't let it get you down - start a new week with renewed determination tomorrow. FWIW, I think tracking makes a big difference - psychologically I think having to record everything makes you take a bit more control.

Just think about what you did differently when you lost and try and repeat that again....

I have struggled a little bit over the last couple of days - chocolate in the office and the knowledge that there's no weigh-in for 2 weeks - but I'm trying to keep my meals really low to try and counter the extras Hmm

dontdillydally · 15/04/2011 13:36

thanks Lola will go back to basics, have a good few weeks off

Sarahdg · 15/04/2011 14:02

Hi Ive been a ww member since Jan 2010 and have lost 29lbs so far. It hasnt always been easy but I have enjoyed the propoints plan especially the fruit with 0 points. I have had disappointing weeks along the way when I thought I have done well and good results on not such a good week so dont get disheartened, you can do it and just keep focused. Well done for joining in the first place thats a real big step and a weight loss however small is better than a weight gain Good luck for the following week !!!xx

fraggle73 · 15/04/2011 17:11

To join ww pro points plan do you have to have a bmi over 25? my current bmi is 24 but I could do with losing a stone after having a baby 5 months ago. Or is there anywhere that I can get an idea of what is good and bad and what are healthy snacks.

LolaLadybird · 15/04/2011 21:02

Can't answer that one fraggle. My BMI is well over 25 so not a question I ever had to ask! Have a look at the WW website - I'm sure it'll have something on there.

Moanranger · 17/04/2011 00:19

Useful thread, this! I am in my 3rd week. Tried old WW and never lost & hated the classes, but thought I would try PP. 29 seems like a lot of food to me and while it gets you eating really healthily, I have not shifted much weight. Today I decided to do a variation (something called the 17 day diet) which is basically protein, veg, small amount of fruit and small amount of "probiotics" which I take to mean yogurt. Reading the thread it comes through pretty clear that the majority of you successful slimmers are careful with the carbs and also don't dip much into your weeklies. I typically add 20+ pts of activity every week and used about 15 extra points the first week, lost 1 1/2 lbs and 22 extra points the second week and STS. I'll see how it goes...
