I know you can't do Weight Watchers while pregnant. Once breast feeding Weight Watchers allow you an extra 10 points a day. (The system has changed slightly since I last did it mind you.)

I would be wary of any drastic weight loss efforts while pregnant. You could just aim to eat healthily while pregnant. It is never helpful to let your blood sugar level drop whilst pregnant so don't go for long periods without eating, just make sure the stuff you do eat is nutritious and not massively high in calories.

CrispyTheCrisp · 17/03/2011 20:20

I managed to eat healthily and not put on much weight at all during pregnancy 1st IIRC, whereas slim friends put on as much as 4st. So, i would say, aim to not gain any weight and then you will be losing underlying weight IYSWIM

I used www.foodfocus.co.uk to keep within a sensible calorie limit

Thanks guys. I am going to ask to be referred to a dietician.

I can't digest most foods and end up sick from heartburn when pregnant.

I would be so happy if my weight remained constant. The next 18mths I'm getting fit and healthy.

Although now off to eat cereal as so hungry!

SW is approved bythe midwife association and is perfectly safe in pregnancy :) we had a few pregnant owmen at our group, I think you just get your MW to sign something to say she agrees to you going.

My Mum was sent to a dietician when she was expecting my dbrother. She lost loads of weight and noone recognised her when she came home from the hospital minus a big bump. Everyone thought she must be her sister come to help with the new baby!

Really carrots? Do you know what they did? I need to get this weight off.

Crispy- that food focus site looks good.

Can anyone recommend a good website for healthy family meals?

I tend to just adapt my normal recipes with lean mince, turkey rather than chicken etc. Do tomato based sauces rather than cream sauces

Hang on and i will go and link to an old MN recipe thread which a group of people on one of my weight loss threads set up

CrispyTheCrisp · 17/03/2011 20:54

Here you go Smile

onadietcokebreak · 17/03/2011 20:56

Thank you so much. Now on watch list.

I should point out that my dbrother will be 42 this year so this was a long time ago Grin so methods will have changed dramatically. I think my poor mum was half starved. I would not recommend that in pregnancy personally. It sounds like SW is a sensible option or asking to see the dietician.

onadietcokebreak · 17/03/2011 21:01

I'm definately not going to go down the starving route!

S.w principles with some variations I think until I can get to see dietician

I wonder if there are other pregnant mums out there on mumsnet who are in a similar situation. Maybe you could have a motivational thread together. I control my weight by having to post ups and downs on fb with my farflung but very close friends. It works really well for us (most of the time Blush)

onadietcokebreak · 17/03/2011 21:14

Thats a good idea. May do a post on pregnancy board.
