Had huge blow out of the weekend, a vertiable carb and cheese fest, with copious amount of chocolate.

This morning i had a superfoods innocent smoothie for breakfast.
nutigrain bar at about 10am.

someone was passing haribo mamo stips about at work and i had 2.

tuna and sweetcorn with light mayo, no butter sandwich and a pink lady apple for lunch.

am starving.
came home and had a homemade cookie.

:(

Am still starving. was planning on just having veg for tea.. am now having baked potatoe with a small amout of beans and maybe a tiny tiny bit of cheese.
and a salad

thats a crap start isnt it.

just water to drink, which is all i usually have.

60g of dried pasta is 6 points in ww. you need to track your food for a few weeks via food focus or some other means to get your head around how much you can eat.

good luck

These things are working for me:

  • Eat more protein
  • Eat more unprocessed foods
  • Eat only when hungry
  • Stop eating when satisfied or full and don't be afraid to leave stuff on your plate
  • Don't deprive yourself - if I want to eat chocolate then I savour a small piece; if I try not to eat chocolate then I binge on other foods and end up eating the chocolate anyway (at the end)
  • Serve yourself less per meal/portion control
  • Eat slllooowwwwly and savour every mouthful
  • Exercise (even a speedy walk is great)
  • Stand up more than you sit down Wink
  • Don't weigh yourself each day (too depressing) but wait a week or even two weeks

Yes, water is key. Whenever I think I'm hungry (and my mind always plays tricks on me), I have a glass of water first - if after 20 minutes I'm still hungry then I eat; usually I'm thirsty and the water satisfies the "hunger".

I'm also learning how to recognise signs of physical as opposed to emotional hunger - if my stomach starts grumbling and I start to feel light/empty (note, not light-headed) then I know it's time I re-fuelled.

I found Paul McKenna's book on eating really helpful and also I Googled "intuitive eating", which has really helped me lose weight without "going on a diet" and eating "diet" foods.

I only drink water. for about 10 years now.
Drink spirits when im out, maybe once every two months.

Again, - for about 10 years ive exercised daily, i was doing the shred at the end of last year as well.

I dont really eat processed food. ( bar the nutrigrain bar, which was given to me by a work collegue. I just dont buy that kind of food. i do not remember the last time i brought crisps. or pizza. or chips or even things like bacon, or anything frozen.

everything is cooked from scratch.
I weighed my pasta last night. its just shocking.
Im convinced its just down to portion sizes.
God knows how much ive been eating...
for years have been perplexed as to why i eat healthy ( i do) but am not thin. I think its just ive been eating 3x the amount i should have been. So its not what ive been eating wrong, but how much.

had some doreset cereals this morning for breaksfast, my god they were lust. had 50g which was 162kals.
im not hungry at all.
:)

openthewindow, you obviously eat well then Smile. I think you're right - it's likely then down to portion sizes. Have you seen these videos on correct portions on You Tube - very sober viewing but has helped me no end. I definitely eat anything I want now but in much smaller portions:

yeah - i saw them a few days ago.

I think my jaw hit the floor really. I kind of thought nothing of totally filling my plate... like, to the edges. But because it was healthy food... then i thought it was ok.

Clearly not.

Somewhere along the line ive mis understood various healthy eatings weight loss things such as ' unlimited fruit and veg' and literally, pile your plate as high as you like, as long as its healthy. I even grow my own fruit and veg.. most of my weekly shop is veg and the only things in the freezer and things ive cooked and frozen myself.

Like, in the winter, i was doing porridge. Half milk, half water. Some berries. Tiny bit of honey. healthy, right.
Appears not.. as i was filing my cereal bowl to the brim.

If i had eaten a proper portion.. then yes it would have been.

My family all eat massive portions. always have done. When you eat out, its huge portions... so expect it then you eat at home too..... and they just get bigger and bigger.

I think i might swap plates. use a side plate or something.

have just tracked food on food focus. If i stick to what i say im going to eat, it comes in at 1159 cals for the day.

So thats ok isnt it?

Feel im going to become best friends with the kitchen scales.

  1. 33 this year.

i dont think its that. i think its becuase i can put away huge amounts of food without it touching the sides.
:)

Like, if i was doing a 'healthy' stir fry as a quick tea. I would use a whole bag of stir fry veg. half a bag of rice noodles and probably a whole bag of king prawns.

and half a sachet of the awful sugary sauce that tastes good.

I would give DD a bit, but shes 5, so not that much. and probably eat the rest myself.

Then eat fruit. or yoghurt.

Clearly an insane amount of food.

I seriously thing that switching to a side plate. and then maybe a child bowl ( for cereal, porridge etc...) is going to be a good thing.
