I was thinking of trying tesco diets. I did weightwacthers successfully a few years ago but have had four children since then and ned to lose about 3 stone again. I hated the points in weight watchers it used to drive me mad having to look up the points if everything so was wondering about tesco!

I've done both and much preferred WW. Tesco was just recipes really and I didn't find any really nice ones in all the time I was on there.

They let you plan your menu and then tranfer it all over to Tesco shopping to be delivered but then I had to faff around doubling/tripling all the amounts to feed DH and DS too. Either that or it would put say, a whole jar/tub/pack of something on the list when I needed a teaspoons worth and it all seemed a bit of a waste.

WW was a lot easier and a lot more effective too. I lost very little with Tesco

I have just lost nearly 2.5 stone with tescodiets.

Either you can do a plan like low GI/low fat/etc etc
or you can do totals (which is what I did) - you then eat what you want and input everything into totaller.

I never realy looked up the totals, I just input everything in. But overtime I knew what was low (eg fruit, vegetables) and what was high (protein, carbs anything with sugar). A total is roughly 80 calories but it doesn't really work that way as an apple is only 0.4 but an 80 calorie chocolate bar would be more like 1.2 or more. It basically encourages you to reach for fruit when you are hungry - this might be why my weight loss slowed down eventually, I think I was eating 5 pieces of fruit a day.

I think it depends what you want - do you want a plan that tells you exactly what to eat (you can switch meals around though).

If its just the ability to log meals etca freebie like foodfocus or myfitnesspal might be enough.
