Hello all, am new mum and a bit fat. Want to start running etc. but have read that lactic acid gets into bm? (care of 'the baby whisperer) and we are still on 3 hourly feeds (ds is 2 months). Also, if it is indeed possible to reign in my huge appetite, can I diet? What's the recommendation? Any advice welcome - I want to lose about a stone...

Relax and enjoy your new and still very young baby. One stone at 2 months in is nothing, plenty of people have that or more for much longer. 9 months on, 9 months off (at least). You can run if you really want to, but gently, and with a VERY suppportive bra. You might be better going for brisk walks with baby in sling, or a pram. Your appetite is enormous for a reason - you are feeding a baby - try to eat sensibly, choose healthy snacks rather than cake. And make sure you're not confusing hunger with thirst.

Just eat sensibly so you don't put on weight... plenty of time to loose after you stop bfing. Best to work out after a feed then don't have to worry about lactic acid thing.

SW is a good idea as then you can eat loads but healthy.

I don't recommend running within 6 months off giving birth as easy to injure yourself due to all the relaxin still in body.

I put on a stone whilst BFing so was 3 stone over by 6 months, but have lots it after I stopped feeding.

I agree 9 months on, 9 months off - in my case 15 months on, 3 months off.
