low or no carb lunch options

PLEASE help me! I have been eating the same lunch for the last 6 weeks and I'm fed up! I'm following ww and need to find some low carb high protine options for lunch - I work in an office so not possible to cook anything really. I do have access to a microwave and a kettle but that's it.

roasted butternut squash soup.

I follow the recipes in Neris & India Idiot Proof Diet and it is lovely.

How about some veggies with tuna or cottage cheese?

Ormirian · 21/02/2011 16:01

Chicken legs and salad.
Chicken soup.
Left over roast meat with salad.

Salads aren't any 'colder' than bread really so don't see why they are less suitable for winter months. Give it a go. I live on salad when I'm on LC.

Make extra portion of whatever you cook in evening and take that in.
Micro scrambled eggs and low sugar beans.
Chickpea, apple and tuna salad
Homemade soup - butternut squash and chilli is lush or parsnip and leek.
Rye bread with hummous
Tzatziki and crudites
Mixed beans with passata and pesto

Don't get the no salads in winter though unless you don't have a hot meal in the evenings. Too restrictive if you cut out salads when low-carbing IMO.

Definitely soups.

Or are you okay with "picnic" lunches in the form of multiple snacks? Eg some cold chicken breast fillet, with your preferred raw vegetable, perhaps a low fat dip (small pot houmous) and a yoghurt.

It's not a "meal" but can be filling, healthy and low fat. I quite often have lunch like that when watching my diet.

Otherwise beans, perhaps with some veggies?

Piles of prepared vegetables that you just microwave - not hugely exciting but healthy and low points.

Ok last night for supper I had:

Slice of cold roast pork left over from lunch.
Some olives and feta cheese
Some smoked cheddar
A small handful of peanuts
Babyleaf salad with mayo

Was very nice.

My evening meals are usually quite high crabs which is why I'm trying to reduce or even eliminate them from lunch. I'll give some of these suggestions a go - I find salad a bit of a faff to be honest and don't really have time to prepare them in the mornings. I know I could do it in the evening but by the time I've sorted the kids out all I want to do is veg infront of the TV.

Bling - will try the picnic lunch - I love humous!

Swap it around then - have carbs at lunch and not at dinner (and avoid the crabs Wink). Better not to eat them at night anyway. And as a veteran of Weightwatchers and every other day under the sun, for me the most effective way to lose weight is low-carbing at every meal.

Ormirian that sounds bloody lush - I love meals like that!

sweetheart · 21/02/2011 16:59

I'd love to say I could do that but it's just not an option really with family meal times. Realistically it just wouldn't fit into my life

Easy to eat low carbs in evenings.

Eg spaghetti bolognaise - DH and DC have pasta I pour my sauce over chopped up cauliflower.

DH has potatoes with his meat.... I have extra brocoli/mushrooms/carrots.

etc etc.

JaxTellersOldLady · 21/02/2011 17:51

I am finding it very easy to eat low carb all the time. I still cook spuds/pasta/rice for the rest of the family, but I have extra veg.

Sparkletastic · 21/02/2011 18:50

Yes me too - have rye bread or sweet potatoes instead of whatever carbs family having or just loads more veg.
