After baby 1 I wasn't too bad but it is really bad this time and I feel a bit overwhelmed by how shit I look. How do I even start to sort myself out?

Start with make up and hair cut?

The weight loss can wait!

Thanks. I don't fit into anything. I wore dresses when I was pregnant but don't want to wear them now as my belly is massive.

I am facing this. DC2 is 9 months old and I am v unhappy with body shape.

It has come to a head in the past few days and my first step has been to make a concerted effort to walk more (and more quickly) - which also means dressing in athletic trousers and running shoes, which is good because then I don't have to put my jeans on, as that is too depressing :)

Seriously though, I find that if I go out with clothing on that encourages free movement and fast walking, I am more likely to walk to the shops than hop on the bus. I am aiming to have a half hour walk at least 5 days a week. I will go back on WW later but this is my first step, on the basis that the exercise alone will make me feel better about myself generally.

Good luck!

PS that walk is sometimes with the buggy, others not. Obv it will be different for you if you have a newborn. Congrats on that btw Grin

neepsntatties I felt this way after DS2 was born but I can't diet when BFing (always hungry and hard to maintain willpower) so I Bfed for 6 months and lived in tracky trousers....

Once he was 6 months old I started to diet... he's now 10 months and I have lost almost all of it but being super strict since October and training for triathlon to focus myself. It came off 2 lbs a week, until I was within striking distance of target weight.

swim swim swim

I do this twice a week for about 45 min and it is really helping to tone me up, BUT: you do need to really 'push' yourself so you feel tired, really use your arms to pull yourself in the water and nice big kicks with your legs: its not about doing super fast swimming or really speedy techniques, i only swim breastroke, but big strong strokes and pull yourself along!

neepsntatties · 13/02/2011 20:20

Yes I am the same with feeding, makes me so hungry. I am a bit scared of swimming! I would like to go to the gym but have to see how I get on with 2. I just feel a panic at the state of me, I wasn't this bad first time round do I could cover it up but no chance of that this tiime.

I found gym very unsatisfying whilst I was BFing.... did try and go, but didn't really get fit until after I stopped feeding.

Reasons I think:

a) harder to run/work out when overweight
b) harder to work out when you have big breasts
c) breastfeeding is physically demanding making it harder in the gym
d) hard to time feeds, as not supposed to work out just before a feed, hence need to work out just after a feed... but needed to book creche in advance and hence predict feed times. hard with a very pukey baby.

Give yourself a chance, OP, it's only been 2 weeks. Seriously, your body will be doing a bit of "pulling itself together" still. Give it time before you worry about it, and don't beat yourself up :)

(But possibly not as much time as I have given it Grin)

swimming is v good for if you are wobbly and / or have big boobs (like me Grin ) because there is no jigging about you are well hidden by the water! If the gym makes you nervous, especially because of your size (i was size 18 / 20 when i started swimming, now about a 16, snmall steps n all that, but toning up better) thenits definately worth starting with Smile
