Hi, has or is anyone doing a low GI diet? What do you think of it?

I did a while back. I lost some weight and felt better generally about eating healthily.

But found it a bit restrictive, IIRC there are some "red" foods that you can never really have, and they include most things that make a meal delicious, like a little bit of pancetta in soup, that kind of thing.

Still, there are some ideas that I kept up, like we always have porridge for breakfast now (2 mins in the microwave, quicker than toast!), and we still have brown rice every now and then, and bulghar wheat.

I'd say that it is a good, healthy diet, and whenever I feel like having a healthy eating streak I always go back to the GI principles, but I don't live it all the time.

Thanks, I have been doing the south beach diet and while it is pretty good I thought maybe low GI would have similar principals but be less restrictive.

I haven't tried South Beach, but it sounds pretty similar to me.

I did the GI diet with Tescos and I lost 2 stone and it has kept off. It had food that I liked anyway and I wasn't ever hungry on it, its more common sense and while I'm not on the diet anymore I have kept to the principles. I have another stone to go but I need to actually start excercising to lose that.
