Have you tried I can Make You Thin by Paul McKenna? It will change the way you look at food. There is a thread on here that will help you more.

'overcoming binge eating' by Christopher Fairburn is really, really good.

I have not tried either of those, will have a look in the library! Thanks for the tips.

The only book I've read with tips about weight is Allan carrs easy way to loose weight. Which didnt work.

But I also ready Allan carrs easy way to stop smoking twice before it actually worked!

Also try slimpods?

otherwise how about being on a diet (forever), but setting limit at something sustainable eg 1800 calories each day.

Have a look at some of the GI diets. Binge eating is usually do to craving sugar I think.

stop reading books about diets and watching programmes about food. thinking about or seeing food stimulates your appetite. just know your rules (higher protein, lower carb, avoid junk, drink lots of water) and follow then when you do eat.

I think 4-6 pounds is such a small amount to lose, I would not bother really.

Not sure that helps, Grin

If you your are such a teensy bit overweight, I would stop dieting and binging and start eating three "normal meals" a day, some healthy snacks, and cut back on puddings, biscuits, sugar etc.

Please do read The End of Overeating. It is a really intelligent and useful book which looks at the many reasons we overeat including the role of the food and advertising industries, cultural phenomena and also biochemical processes stimulated by different kinds of food. It is written by a senior academic and is very authoritative, but is also an easy and accessable read.

I found it incredibly helpful and reassuring to gain this understanding of the kinds of things which underlie some aspects of my overeating. Finally the book also suggests ways to tackle the bad eating habits promoted by these various factors.

I can't recommend it highly enough and would suggest it is far more valuable than a diet book.
