can I bump this.

I have some questions too, but can't find any specifics.

So, I understand that there are 3 levels. Is is level 1 for 10 days, level 2 for 10 days etc...

Are weights very important, or can I use a can of beans?

I had a baby in October. Definitely ready to exercise, but most of you sound like you're in pain - will I cope?!

Sounds fab, just want to know if it's worth buying the DVD.

30 Day shred is a fitness dvd here

You can start of by using cans of beans for weights but would need to move up to something heavier when you need more of a challenge. There is a move in level 3 where you need to have proper hand weights as you have to hold them whilst you are in a push up position.

The dvd is circuit training based on different strength moves such as squats, lunges, push ups, shoulder press etc mixed with some cardio moves like jogging on the spot, jumping jacks, punching, and some ab work. If you haven't done exercises like this for a while then you probably will feel some DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) over the first few days.

The best thing about it is it is only 20 minutes long so it is easier to fit into a busy day, and by the time you think 'oh I can't do this, I want to stop' you realise you are over halfway through already and may as well finish it Grin

Thanks for that. My pelvis floor is already shredded, so I may have to do half lunges/ squats.

Everyone seems to be getting great results, so my may give it a whirl.

My copy just arrived today, going to try it tonight so I'll let you know how I get on.

I am a runner and also need to do strengthening exercise hence buying this. Will let you know how it goes!

hugebelly you get the option to do half lunges and squats, just follow the rather spooky Anita (she does the 'beginner' version, despite having abs you could grate cheese with). My pelvic floor is okay (only one baby, and nearly seven yerars ago ...) but if I did the full lunges especially I think I'd dislocate my knees. 'Easy' versions feel like they're doing the trick, there are definitely abdominal muscles lurking under the residual fat layer now. :o

DontCallMeBaby - Thanks for that. How long have you been doing it and when did you notice a difference in tone/ shape?

DontCallMeBaby · 05/02/2011 11:38

I started on 1st January - obviously I SHOULD have done the lot by now, but I don't do it every day (however I have very few days off, I run, swim or do zumba on other days). I was blethering on about having discovered muscles (deltoids actually, not abs at all!) on 17th January (had to look it up!) I think that's going to be due to the swimming as well.

DontCallMeBaby · 05/02/2011 11:41

Oh, and it definitely got easier towards the end of the period doing Level 1 - honestly, I started off thinking it was never going to get even bearable, but by day 4 or so it stopped hurting so much, and by day 6 it was noticeably easier.

hugebelly · 06/02/2011 23:07

Will be ordering my copy in the morning - I'll let you know how it goes!

haggis01 · 11/02/2011 13:39

May be a silly question but if you are doing the exercises on a carpeted floor (with a mat) do you need a pair of trainers like Jillian wears? to absorb shock or is it fine in bare feet - I don't have trainers (I do pilates and yoga)but don't want to shred my ankles!

Watched level 1 through and will start tomorrow - looks good!

LostGirl · 11/02/2011 14:49

I didn't wear trainers when doing it, I find doing squats and lunges etc easier in bare feet as the cushioning in trainers makes it harder to balance properly. I guess you do need to be careful with the jumping segments and ensure you 'land softly', but you should do that regardless of footwear I suppose!

haggis01 · 11/02/2011 19:20

Thanks - I'll give it a go tomorrow
