Can anyone talk me through it a bit and maybe tell me if its worked for you. I have a lot of weight to lose and am at the end of my tether and feel drastic action is needed.

Thanks!

oooh i was looking at the earlier, do you know how much it costs?

ihavenewsockson · 31/12/2010 23:55

I did cambridge twice and was a consultant for them too.

It works. definatly works. but you have to be absolutly determined to stick to their instructions 100%,especially with reintroducing food or you willend up putting the weight back on and having problems with your metabolism and blood sugar levels.

Go for it if you are 100% sure you can stick to it completly.

It costs just under £40 per week if you just have CWP products and no 'real' food.

Lots of threads on here with info and minimins forum is very good too. Smile

I'm doing Cambridge at the moment ( i initially thought about lighter life, but the group therapy thing made me feel ill!). with 21 products per week (so 3 a day) I pay about £38 per week. You do need to be able to stick to it more or less, which can be difficult fitting around your family I would think. My dd is 15 months, so it's not so difficult for me at the moment. I do sometimes have something to eat - high protein, minimal carbs only if I feel the need to chew something (my cambridge consultant told me to stick to that if I needed to eat). The first few days are the worst, because after 3 or 4 days of sticking to it, you don't feel hungry anymore. You can also do a plan where you have a small meal every day as well, but I found that to be more difficult than just going with the products only plan. In 11 weeks, I lost 3 st 5, with probably another 3 or so still to go. Like you, I had done everything else, and needed drastic action. There is a recommendation that you don't do much exercise while on it because the calorie intake is so low. I struggle with that idea, and still do aerobics 3x week, which I did for a while before I started the Cambridge diet. Not sure how easy it would have been to start an exercise program alongside the diet. Hope that info helps - and good luck with the weight loss effort!

Thanks so much for all the info Smile. I'm really concerned i'll fail but really need to do something drastic i think. Have looked at the support forums and they seem pretty good and inspiring.

Hi nannyj, are you going to do this? I'm starting tomorrow & it would be great to compare notes!

nannyj · 04/01/2011 19:56

I am definately going to do it but need to sort out a counsellor. Was thinking of starting in a couple of weeks. Hope it goes well. Have you looked on the cambridge forums they seem pretty good. Let me know how you go. I wish i'd sorted it out as feel ready to start Smile

In case you haven't spoken to a counsellor yet, I advise you switch to a low carb diet and make sure you're drinking 2.2 L of water every day for the week before you start - It'll make the first couple of days easier, because the carbohydrate withdrawal won't be so horrendous.

nannyj · 05/01/2011 21:22

oh thanks for the tip, i'm going to ring the counsellor tomorrow.

Good luck nannyj, please could you point me in the direction of the cambridge forums as i can't find them! Sad

nannyj · 06/01/2011 13:33

They came up when I googled cambridge diets but there is a forum bit on the Cambridge website. At the top of the home page I think :-)
