Pedometer Club Results week of 17-23 September

Morning All -

This past week my total was 78,187.

My leg muscles (calves) ached a bit for a few days. I'm experiencing a stiffness that I can only compare to the shinsplints I had when I used to run. Suppose it's a result of upping the weekly walking so much now that dd is back in school. Has anyone else experienced this?

Bumping in case anyone else has totals to report.

Really sorry. Pedometer was on the blink last week so no reliable total I'm afraid. An average sort of week though.

This week looking a little more impressive I think as today have walked approx 20,000 steps!

Glad to hear from you anyway Posey, even if there's no total to report. I was starting to think I was posting to myself.

Today's total is an impressive start to the week! I walked a fair bit today, but fear that the correct total didn't register on the pedometer. I think my rarely worn/tight jeans held the pedometer in place so it didn't bounce properly on my hip! Another sign that I need to curtail the food intake along with the walking!

Oh trousers definitely make a difference. My warmer power walking trousers don't hold the pedometer so well and I never get such an accurate reading as I do in my summery ones (which are high-waisted and draw-string.

Todays total was due to shopping this morning, a lot of chores to attend to, so total about 5000. Then I did an 11,000 power-walk in Regents Park. Then went to get dd from her friends (Approx 4000 steps). BTW I don't wear pedometer in the house, as for me shuffling around the flat isn't classed as exercise. Now if I lived in a sprawling mansion...

How long did the power walk take? I love Regent's Park, by the way.

I'm afraid that I do wear my pedometer in the house as I'm desperate for every step I can clock up! Sometimes I even sleep with it clipped to my knickers....but, you only get to do that if you are a single mum like me!

Wearing your pedometer in bed
Mine has a security alarm in it which I feel I may set off inadvertantly if I wore mine at night!

My power walking is really just restarting after taking it easy over the summer (its too hot and crowded during the summer months)

Anyway yesterday I did 10649 steps which for me is 5.4 miles. It took 79 minutes. Hoping to speed up a bit as I get more into it again.

Hmmm Posey, you've just given me a thought....maybe I could arrange to do some sleepwalking to get my totals up?

What sort of shoes do you wear for power walking? What sort of shoes do you wear for general around town walking? I'm on the prowl for some comfortable walking shoes that look vaguely presentable....

My power walking trainers are Asics ones. I went to London City Runner by St. Pauls and they were brill (have been in other running shops where they were downright rude). She looked at the shoes I was wearing to see where I wore them most and suggested appropriate shoes. She got it right as I have never had a blister, even doing marathon distances. They are definitely sports shoes, I personally wouldn't wear them with jeans or whatever around town.

Are you in London? Fancy doing a walk one day in the park?
