Eating right to get back to my pre-kids size 12

Hi everyone, I'm Theresa - new to mumsnet (I posted this up in the Food forum, but prettybird said I could get better advice here). I'm a mum to two lovely kids Tim and Lola who are 3 and 6 months.

I've been a stay at home mum since we had Tim, but was a teaching assistant before so was used to being quite active.

I love being home with my family, but to be honest, it's got to a point where I feel like I need to maybe start watching my weight, not just for me but for my kids and hubby. I used to be a size 12 now I'm, well, a tad more than that (my fella has also put on a few stones too). So to get us back into shape, I started by getting rid of the frozen junk foods in the freezer and now I'm cooking meals using fresh ingredients, but I'm finding it's taking a lot of time to prepare anything. Did I do the right thing here? Are fresh meats and veg healthier than frozen meals or even frozen ingredients?

hi theresa,

i think its more to do with the kind of food you eat than weather its frozen or fresh.

exercise is vital too, at least 2x per week.

Hello Theresa Welcome to mumsnet, you will find lots of support on these threads regarding weightloss so you've come to the right place.. I have a 4 year old son and a 6 month old daughter, I also want to get back to a size 12. I've been doing the paul mckenna I can make you thin, I can't say how much I've lost because I've been judging it by my clothes which are def getting looser, I've lost my obsession with the scales which was getting me down and starting to enjoy exercise( really didn't think that would ever happen) I'm finding it so much easier than weight watchers, I was so sick of planning separate meals for everyone , writing it down etc and hardly losing anything.... Now I just eat when I'm hungry and eat what I want, all I've had today is rice krispies beacuase thats what I wanted, I keep thinking "am i hungry yet?" and if the answer is no then I dont eat! On weight watchers I would have eaten cereal, fruit and probably a bag of crisps by now so I could use the points, no wonder I wasn't losing anything,

I also have to say I'm functioning on very little sleep as my baby has forgotten how to sleep so having to not think about making salads and point counting is a life saver.

There's a Paul Mckenna thread on here , have a little look... or join some of the others for there lose 10 pounds b4 crimbo etc

Good Luck
