I'm sure posts like this are pretty regular on here so sorry if I'm repeating but I just don't know how to go back to normal eating and stop piling on the pounds (not to mention get my old 'lust for life' back!!)
I've always been a size 12/14: happy to lose a few pounds before hols or a special occasion but otherwise just normal eating and moderate exercise and a generally happy and confident person.

I then gained 4 stone having DS1 5 years ago and lost it sensibly through ww & kept it off until I got pregnant with ds2 3 years later.. I gained 5 stone this time and lost a stone with ww but just couldn't stick at it in the same way so stopped 'for the summer' it's now October and I've gained the stone plus another one and just can't find the off switch.
I know I can do it if I'm in the right frame of mind and I desperately want to do it but it's just not happening right now. And the more weight I gain the more miserable I'm feeling and not bothering about my appearance as much generally. If you've hit this rock bottom' point how did you turn things around and start addressing your weight problem. Any suggestions considered at this stage :(

Do you eat junk food?
I went through a phase of eating junk and I found I just kept eating more and more no matter how good my intentions were. I was eating healthy meals but snacking on rubbish.
I found that I just had to muster up the will power from somewhere and stop eating all high sugar and high fat foods. That includes most breakfast cereals. I can't eat bread either as that makes me want to eat all day.

Once you do that for about 3 days, it becomes easier. Start doing some exercise. Walking is good. Join a gym or do dvds.
Fix a time 3x a week and stick to it.
Take a multi vitamin every day and drink a glass of water every hr.

I got my hair coloured and cut recently and also had a back massage and facial so I just generally feel a lot more positive. Try and do something like that for yourself. It really helps.

I love your advice shaxx, lots of common sense and things that I need to take on board too. I agree that self esteem and feeling positive has a lot to do with it. You lose a bit of weight, you feel more positive, and the cycle goes on but it also works the opposite way - you gain some weight you feel less good about yourself so you turn to junk food for comfort. I've taken small steps so far like not picking at the kids' leftovers, joining the local gym and cutting out snacks.

I feel your pain Sad

I'm now heavier than I was in any of my three pregnancies and tipping the scales at 4 stones over my mid BMI weight. I've been suffering from bad depression and although feeling better, the new meds I'm on cause weight gain and I've put on almost a stone since changing meds about 6 weeks ago Shock

So while I have no real advice, I'm happy to join you in trying to do something about it! I'm going to do SW as it fits in best with family meal planning.
