I have cracked it! My DD has a great diet, fresh fruit and veg, good balance of carbs and protein, healthy snacks. I eat mostly what she eats but plus crisps, chocolate, biscuits and sugary tea. Therefore if I just eat what I feed her (in slightly bigger portions, obviously), I should lose weight and be more healthy, yes?

Why is it we work so hard on providing balanced, nutritious diets for our children and then shovel crap into ourselves?

Also will go for 1 long walk a day, must also be good for DD to get fresh air.

Might need some help though...

Thing is you can stop your DD eating crap by not giving it to her - its stopping giving it to yourself thats the hard thing I find

Great idea, the best thing i have found is just don't buy anything in that is rubbish food with zero nutritional value. If i really want a kitkat then i have to walk to the shop and buy one (but just the one!),not too much damage done then, good luck with it : )

It's really bad, I (like most of us, I suspect) know that to lose weight you need to consume less calories or burn them off. So why can't I do it? Am doing well so far today, cereal, fruit and an omlette and salad but even though I feel posiive about today and possibly tomorrow, I know it wont last but don't know why. I need motivation.

I know exactly how you feel,it's like a fog comes down and all my good intentions dissapear, wish i could just be normal, like i used to be,i don't fit my clothes anymore and i don't like what i see in the mirror.

Happycornwallmum · 18/10/2010 14:15

Also,i seem to do well for the first part of the day, porridge for breakfast, sandwich for lunch, fruit for snack, then i'll do the schoolrun and it's downhill from there really! think it's when things in the house are chaotic (five kids lol!)i lose control of my eating as a coping mechanism, will have to find other ways to cope i guess.

OK, ate what DD did all day, however ate 6 of her apple ricecakes Blush. Still better than chocolate I guess. Today I went for a walk with no money which stopped me caving at the newsagent! It's the way forward Grin

Hey,sounds like you are doing well, are you dishing yourself up a similar portion size to your dd at dinner time? I am trying really hard, evenings are still my most difficult time, especially as my dh snacks alot then so i have to try not to be lead astray by him! Keep it up x

Ha ha - like it, very original concept. I don't have toddlers - a strapping 6 and 8 year old instead. I certainly won't be emulating their tomato ketchup habit, however the rest of their diet is okay....food for thought

Happycornwallmum · 20/10/2010 17:37

Just finished my child sized tea, macoroni cheese and cocktail sausage rolls,ha ha feel like i'm 7 yrs old again, where's my jelly? : )

Serendippy · 21/10/2010 10:37

I cannot bring myself to eat the same portion size as my DD, I would probably end up giving her 3x as much as she needed just so I felt full! I am having the same amount as her, any bolking out has to be with salad/veg. Have lost 4lb so far and had no chocolate or crisps (damn my healthy eating for children policy!), not really even hungry but must keep busy, making sure I am out of the house for a few hours so I don't pick. Jelly is fat free, isn't it? Scoff away Grin

wow 4lbs!!i'm jealous, not lost an ounce yet Sad

I think when you start a diet/healthy eating after eating junk for so long you lose quite a lot quite quickly, but isn't most of it water? Am sticking with it though as it seems to be working, even managed to get round Sainsbury's without buying anything nice naughty.
Happycornwallmum I am in the fortunate (with regards to dieting) position of only having 1 dc so no excuse to have junk in the house for the kids. It would be very hard not to snack on their stuff if it was there. As it is, I can remind myself that I can only eat fast food and other rubbish if I feed it to DD, stops me in my tracks. OK as a treat but I would happily eat chocolate and takeaways every day!
