Ideas for exercising at home?

Dd is 5months and ebf so I need to factor that into my plans. Have been able to get out for a few runs but now dd wants to feed all evening and by 8pm when she is asleep I'm too tired to go running. During the day there's noone to take her.

I am trying to walk for an hour a day with dd in a sling which I think is pretty good exercise but not like the running and swimming I used to do prepregnancy.

So does anyone have ideas for (mainly cardio) exercise I can do at home without buying tons of equipment?

Zumba dvds or Jillian Michaels 30 day shred. The 30 day shred is 20 mins but it works and the zumba is either 20 mins or an hour depending on what time you have. I did buy a jogger pushchair when DD was little so i could still get out and run without having to get childcare. They are often on ebay. HTH

Thanks - are weights a must have for the shred or can I get by initially while I try it?

Hi Dial

I am a keen home exerciser, but not into DVDs (though I know lots of people rate the Shred DVD).

I have exercise bands (rubber bands), 2 Kg free weights, exercise mat and exercise ball and get different exercise routines from Shape magazine online.

I never get bored with it have seen some good results.

Shred

Billy Blanks Boot Camp

(Both are DVDs)

I have Matt Roberts For for your Shape, (book) which is quite tough and contains a number of home workouts as well as those that are gym based.

Agree that fast walking with sling/buggy is good.

A lot of stuff you can do at home is good for toning, and definitely worth doing, but not as good for cardio IMO. If you could manage a run even once a week, a couple of ast walks and then some DVDs/exercises sessions then that might be a good balance.

I also do some DVDs but also Wii Sports Active (obviously if you've already got a Wii). It's a kind of circuit trainer programme and you can set it for a 30 day get fit programme or specific programmes for cardio, toning, etc. It comes with a resistance band and I got a couple of handheld weights to supplement some of the exercises although that not really necessary.

The exercises and reps get harder as you go along and I found it pretty good fun and a bit less repetitive than some of the DVDs.

Thanks to all for ideas. :)
