Anyone still doing/interested in doing Zoe Harcombe diet?

It's been a while since this was mentioned on Mumsnet. Wondered if there was anyone out there doing it still? I went on the forum a bit but now it's changed so you have to pay a monthly charge to comment - I'm guessing this will put some people off.

I've lost a stone and a half since end of May and had lost 19 pounds on WW immediately prior to this.

I think she feels she has had to start charging because she can't make use of sponsors in the way that other diet plans can - she hasn't any "products" to sell and the focus is on eating natural food - she doesn't believe in sweetners or any food with sweetners in so she differs from Dukan in that respect.

Just looking for someone to talk to about it (billy no-mates emoticon!)

Hi all, just a quick line to say I found this diet brilliant. I went from 11st 2, to around 9st 4, with not much hardship with this way of eating. The weight also didn't seem to come straight back on like with other diets, even if I had a few cheat days.

I've maintained my weight for about 5 months. Well, until I found out I was pregnant, got bad sickness and dropped another half a stone. If u do a search you'll probably find old threads with recipe advice etc. Good luck!

That's brilliant JuneBugJr - I did the same a long time ago - lost loads of weight and then immediately fell pregnant Smile. Glad it worked well for you. I remember the other threads but was just plain curious as to whether anyone was STILL doing it now. All seems a bit quiet which leads me to believe that they've all fallen off the wagon or are trying other weight loss methods. Congrats on your pregnancy by the way!

WildStrawberryplace - have you started today??

Yes, I started this morning - Kallo puffed rice and NLY for breakfast.

In the book Zoe says you can have 100g of Kallo in place of the 50g dry uncooked weight brown rice, saying its the same? I know the calories are similar but the carb content of 100g of puffed rice seems way more than 50g uncooked brown rice. Anyway, I only had 50g of Kallo because it was a massive bowlful anyway.

Wild (can I call you that?) - I tried the Kallo stuff but to be honest couldn't stomach it! Might try it again though. Can't help with the 100g kallo vs 50g rice - sorry! Hope your first day went well. Only 4 more to go. Are you foregoing your coffee? I make a filter decaf that's very nice. I think I might have even tried it with Oat milk in it for a few days when I was trying to keep off the dairy for the first 5 days (think I was having Goats milk NLY too).

Be good to hear how you got on.

Lunch was omelette with loads of chopped fresh coriander. NL greek Y.

Carrot sticks as a snack.

Dinner was pot roast beef with onion gravy, sprouts, and carrots.

Cravings from hell in the evening - not so much cravings, I didn't really want anything, but I felt physically watery, tired and just sort of suffering or something. It seems harder than low carb induction because you can't have the dairy either...

I have not given up coffee - I enjoy my one good coffee in the morning and I don't drink alcohol or anything - I don't intend to give it up in stage 2 either, so I see no point in going through the possible headaches etc. I'm not hung up on getting a large loss in the first 5 days, it is a bit gimmicky imho and just to keep people enthused etc which is fair enough, but I'd be happy with a coupla pounds tbh.

All sounds good . Be interesting to see how you get on with having your coffee every morning. I wondered whether my headache was caffeine withdrawal or just plain sugar withdrawal. I think you will still lose weight regardless.

This might not be reassuring but I felt awful for a few weeks. At times I wondered whether it was worth it especially when people said they felt "brilliant and "re-energised" after just the 5 days. I guess we are all different. I feel a whole lot better now (might be due to the fact that I am carrying 3 stones less!)but i wish there had been a few more people admitting that it made them feel like shite! I was prepared to go with it because I knew that it was doing me good (rather like giving up smoking - it feels like hell at first but you just KNOW it's for the best)

Keep on going and good luck!
