I'm considering it as a short-term (4 weeks) kickstar to my diet. I know all the reasons against but I still think I will get the push and incentive I need to keep going. I have about 2 st to lose by the way.

I am not sure that it is a kickstart sort of diet and I think you have to have more than 2 stone to lose to be honest.

Have you thought of Slimming World or Weight Watchers?

NickOfTime · 21/09/2010 07:27

i think you normally have to have 4 stone to lose? it's not a kickstart - you need to plan it carefully with one of their planners and buy all the shite bars/ nutrient stuff through them. it's very carefully planned over a period of time, with motivational meetings/ weigh in s and stuff. not something you can do off your own bat?

i have a friend who lost about 5 stone on it. she had her eyes lasered and a brace at the dame time. true re-model stuff.

you will lose 2 stone quick as a flash on LL - and as long as your BMI is high enough then you will be accepted onto the programme (think it has to be 29?)

I lost about what you want to on Cambridge which is a very similar diet and it came off very quickly, I went from bmi 31 to 26 in 9 weeks.

The negative is that it is very very hard mentally and unless you change your eating habits you will put on the weight again afterwards - but this is the same for any other diet, not just LL.

It could work as a kickstart but I did find that doing cambridge has buggered up my metabolism and I now find it very hard to lose wieght, I have tried going back on the diet several times and because my head hasnt been in the right place I have failed after just a few days.

BTW I dont work for cambridge but it is cheaper than LL (you dont get group counselling sessions, just a quick chat each week with a rep/counsellor)

Nickoftime is right, there is counselling as well, looking at your relationship with food etc.
So not a kickstart, 4 week plan.

gingernutlover · 21/09/2010 07:32

oh and if you have less to lose, both diets have other programmes with slighty more calories which you are allowed to follow.

if you have 2 stone to lose (if you bmi between 25-29) you will do LL lite (so you still have one meal a day and 3 packs (shakes or soups)
it really worked for me.
i would highly recommend if you want to lose it quickly
and yes
i have kept it off
i feel great
(i lost 36lb)

i think its a great kickstart initally as weight comes off fairly quickly to start which really helps motivation. its a lifestyle change also. its really made me question what i eat and why.
i would say go for it!!
