The Flat Belly MUFA diet - anyone?

I have become really focussed on how huge my belly seems right now so I have decided to do something about it. I have never before given any thought to what I eat so this is the first time I will ever have attempted a diet.

I found this book when browsing in the book shop and have already read it from cover to cover.

It begins with a 4-day thing to shift the bloating, but this is not a detox.

Then there are 28 days of eating 3 x 400 calorie meals and 1 x 400 cal snacks.

It all SEEMS easy so I am off to shop for the 4 day bit although there's lots of stuff I need that are already in the house.

It seems to focus mostly on healthy eating and eating a MUFA (mono-unsaturated fatty acid) with each meal, so nuts, olives, dark chocolates, avocado... yummy!

Has anyone done this diet/eating plan?

Or has anyone got suggestions for first time dieting? I am 37, 5'7" and nearly 12 stone. I really want to shift the wobbly belly (post 2 children aged 3 and 1) and lose about 1.5 stone.

I'm also not planning on telling people in RL that I am dieting as I want them to notice - but maybe it would be better to tell everyone so that I couldn't give up? ??

Seems like a fairly sensible diet plan, although not sure about the rigidity of the meals. I generally have 250 cals for breakfast, 350 cals for lunch and 750 cals for dinner with a couple of 100 calorie snacks. I think as long as you keep below 1500-1600 calories a day you should see fairly good weight loss.

As for your belly, do you do any TVA exercises? I've had a huge pot belly all my life, and although I hae lost loads of weight, more than anything I've toned up (by doing the 30 day shred) which has made a massive difference to my belly. it doesn't overhang anywhere near as much, and is really quite reasonable. I'd definitely recommend 30 day shred for sorting your belly out - also great for legs and arms :)

Yes, I have been reading a thread about the Shred and have ordered it from Amazon. I am hoping that by combining the two then I might be able to shift my belly and feel better about myself.

I am just hoping to see some results so that it motivates me to keep it up - I have the summer off work but am going to be working full time again from the start of next month and just hope I can find something that is easy to keep up. I am already thinking that I will have to split the snack into 2 'bits' due to the hours I work and how rigid the breaks are!

I am hoping the Shred can be fitted in when DP is giving the DDs their bath. It is meant to be quick to do, isn't it? I have already bought myself an exercise mat and a set of weights so as soon as the DVD is here then I am all set!
