Can someone explain to me in simple terms how Slimming World works

I am a devout WW dieter when needed but I'm bored of it now. Thinking of giving Slimming World a try but I know very little about it and I don't have time to go to meetings (I could maybe find time but I don't want to Grin).

So here's what I do know - you have red days and green days (I'm presuming can eat meat on red day but not on green day ?), you have free foods (no idea what these are ?) and you have sins (No idea what these are either ?) - other than this I am clueless.

Can someone talk me through how it works and what freefoods and sins are

Hi

It's a while since I did this diet but I remember it like this:

Green days - you can eat as much pasta & other carb food - potatoes really - as you like. An example meal would be spag bol with quorn mince, or quorn 'chicken' fillet with jacket potato.

Red day - as much lean meat & fish as you like but limited pasta & potatoes.

Free foods include veg, salad, fruit.

You also choose a couple of healthy extras on each day - cereal, bread, brown rice etc.

Sorry to be hazy - but I hope you get the general idea.

I have a load of info in an email if you'd like me to send it to you?

In addition to red days and green days you can also have 'Extra easy' days where you can have as much pasta/potato/rice etc. with as much lean meat/fish as you like, together on the same plate, as long as you have at least a third of a plate of veg with it as well.

can I just ask, is it easy to follow SW without actually joining a class/online thing? I can't afford it...

FoghornLeghorn · 12/08/2010 09:45

HavingAnOffDAy - that would be great - would you mind ? My email is [email protected]

Duncan - Extra Easy days sound good.

So in theory it's not mixing certain groups that makes it work ?

I'm the same MMM - I can't justify the money each month so am hoping it's something I can do at home

My Mum & her partner both lost a couple of stone without attending classes. Once you've got your head around the way it works I think you'd be mad to pay to get weighed!

MMM - I can send you the info too if you like?

HavingAnOffDAy · 12/08/2010 09:54

Fog - the email is on it's way.

Let me know if you don't receive it & I'll resend - there's quite a few attachments so I may need to send them over several mails.

FoghornLeghorn · 12/08/2010 10:06

Oh wow - there's loads of info there Having, thanks so much.

Just got to sit and read it all now Grin

Fingers crossed it do-able from home. I usually do WW from home but having someone else weigh you definitely gives added motivation.

No probs. I know what you mean about the motivation thing. I attended classes with a friend too & found the 'competition' very useful!

Good luck if you decide to try it

FoghornLeghorn · 12/08/2010 12:16

Oh I'll definitely be giving it a try. The few people I know that have done it have raved over how good it is being able to eat as much as you like
