diet causes wind in baby

Two days ago I went back on Weight Watchers. The last two nights my six week old has woken several times in the night (which he never does except to feed) with horrible, painful wind. I have dramatically changed my diet - from really unhealthy to lots of veg, although not much fruit. Have also cut out alcohol.

Anyone else find this when they went on a diet?

I didn't diet when I was breast-feeding (are you definitely getting enough calories? It's honestly not the best time to be dieting, though I know how miserable that post-baby weight can make you) but certain foods are notorious for causing wind in babies - tomatoes, oranges, spring to mind. If it makes you more windy then I guess it stands to reason it may make baby more windy too. Hope someone else will have some advice.

Oh I've got to say it - 6 weeks? Blimey, you need the energy, I really would put a diet on a back burner for now. Eat healthily, yes, but I wouldn't bother with the points counting.

Thanks but given this group I would have thought it was perfectly obvious that people do diet when breastfeeding. I was not looking for advice on whether or not to diet.

OK. Just my opinion - I hope someone else comes along with some advice you find useful.
