How do I survive 3 months living with my lovely but teddy-bear shaped mum?

Ok, so we have to live with my parents while we sell our london house and buy a house in somerset. This has it's own challenges, but one thing I'm REALLY wiorried about is my weight. My parents are Not Into Health Eating. I am still trying to loose my weight after ds 2. I have agreed with mum I will cook weeknights and she'll do weekends, so weekends will be a challenge, but even during the week I know she'll always have nuts, and crisps, and biscuits around - and lots of rose! How do I survive the 3 months without gaining a stone? Plus my parents live in the middle of nowhere so instead of walking everywhere I'll be cathing the bus / lifts from my mum... help!!

Tough one. My mum is not teddy-bear shaped but doesn't do diets. I do make sure I have low-fat staples like milk and bananas with me, but other than that it's strictly willpower, and I'm afraid I fail miserably. Like yours, she lives in the middle of nowhere and my intention is usually to take in some lovely walks but we're often busy, busy, busy!!

Sorry, that's not especially helpful, is it!

Can you take advantage of having grandparents on hand to up your exercise? Take up jogging? Even an exercise dvd or going out for a walk every night will help?

I'm planning on buying a Shiny New Bicycle so I can cycle a bit, but I really don't want to use my mum too much as unpaid childcare - that's not why we're moving there and not what she;s signed up for IYSWIM. But even the cycling I think will only offset the fact that instead of waling round London town, I'll be hitching lifts to the farm shop 5 miles away - so less excercise day to day! Ohh, I so don't want to end up overweight like my mum, but sometimes I feel like I'm FATED to be fat!!

You can get panniers and cycle to the farm shop (if you don't need to take the DCs with you). And if you go out for a run after the DCs are already asleep that's not so much doing the unpaid childcare thing.

cycle to the farm shop once a day + then make sure that you do something active with your children in all that lovely country side. loads of fresh air and exercise you will be fine. As to the biscuits and crisps just tell your mum that you don't want them too available during the day as you don't want the children to get into the habit of eating them and it is unfair to say no biscuits darling if your cleavage is full of crumbs

I'll get a kiddy trailer thing for my bike I think, so I can take them.

BUT... this doesn't solve the problem of an unhealthy diet for 3 months!

You could also use yr Dcs as the reason for wanting to keep them healthy\slim, hiding crisps, etc. She'll understand if she's lovely!!

And summer's agreat time for buying beautiful fruit from the farm shop;get yr mum on the fruit! Eat on an empty stomach for health! Good luck
