What were your old, new, borrowed and blue things?

Why do we have that tradition anyway?

Am being matron of honour for my friend next week and just realised I probably ought to have something to hand.

Old/Borrowed - my mum lent me a bracelet

New - dress

Blue - garter

Old - my Mums pearl earrings (also covered borrowed)

New - Everything else I was wearing

Blue - my Mum sewed a tiny blue bell inside my wedding dress

Old was a victorian lace hanky given to me by an "aunt", she was a very old lady friend of my aunt's and I always counted her as such.
New was my dress, and just before we got to the hall I remembered my borrowed and blue so Dad lent me a fiver which I tucked into my bra

Blue - I was just leaving for church with my sister and realised I didn't have anything blue, but she said my eyes were blue, and that would be enough.

Old - er, knickers. To be fair they were in a decent state and I didn't want to spend the whole day trying to de-wegify something small and lacy. I'd worn the same pair when I graduated from university.
