Was it easy to maneouvre? And did you take it off after the ceremony? I have been talked into this by my dress maker and I'm just not sure how it will look etc.

Mine will be 3m. I will take it off after the ceremony!

I looks gorgeous - was the one thing I really wanted and it makes me feel very princessy.

georgimama · 05/08/2009 20:56

Yes. I wore it for photos but had to take it off for wedding breakfast as I was so hot (we were having a heatwave though). It was lovely.

wisterialane · 05/08/2009 20:59

Yes, I did, and it looked lovely but I had to take it off after the photos as it was pulling on my hair a bit and I was fed up of people standing on it!

They are gorgeous though

CMOTdibbler · 05/08/2009 21:00

yes, full length that my mum made. No problems moving it around - my dress wasn't very full or anything tho

HarryJoesMummy · 05/08/2009 21:04

Yes I did - not sure how long it was but it was about 1m behind me on floor. Was fab - had to do wide turning circles to move in it tho. I took it off after the wedding breakfast so I could dance . Good luck for your big day.

daffodilli · 05/08/2009 21:24

Yes. I loved my veil! I never wanted one until the lady in the shop persuaded me to try it on, it was about 2m behind me, the same as the train on my dress and had tiny sparkly bits on it! Had no problems getting around and kept it on the whole time, from about 3.30 til 11. They do look lovely! Have a great day

Littlefish · 05/08/2009 21:26

Mine was full length, but very light (ie, not gathered onto a tiara or band or anything. No problems movign around, and kept it on all the time, except when I was dancing.

Poledra · 05/08/2009 21:30

I had a full-length veil, which just puddled a little on the floor behind me. Wore it until the dancing started then removed it. No trouble moving in it though did have a straight dress.

Dh managed to stand on it as we came into the wedding breakfast so our wedding video has a great shot of me suddenly getting jerked backwards by the head!!

Poledra · 05/08/2009 21:31

Oh, and my 2.5 yo flowergirl was obsessed with trying to pick the little sparkly bits off it

PlumBumMum · 05/08/2009 21:32

Yeap as every one else said it looked beautiful and 3 of my friends borrowed it so it must have!

Took it off after the photos I think

whomovedmychocolate · 05/08/2009 21:36

I had one with my first wedding and it was fine (apart from small children jumping on it in glee ).

It does require you to have thick enough hair though - to anchor it properly.

maize · 18/08/2009 22:21

I had one, I took it off after the meal. It was the same length as my train so no huge issue in that. People did stand on it though so I had to remind people to shift a few times.

It was also quite heavy, I wore mine under my hair, with hindsight I would have worn it a big higher up and I think that would have made things easier.

That said I loved my veil

spiralqueen · 18/08/2009 23:30

I was advised to let the chief bridesmaid lift the front up and over my head at the start of the ceremony which was good advice. My DH was worried about getting caught up in it and my dad would have made a pigs ear of doing it.

I did go to a wedding once where the bride had a long veil and it was very windy so the photographer had to use clothes pegs to anchor it down for the photos.

Fruitysunshine · 26/01/2010 00:30

I had a cathedral length veil, it was beautiful with tiny subtle crystals on it. It was not a problem walking around with it and occasionally I had it draped over my arm. It came off just prior to the sit down meal.

I had a full length veil which trailed down the aisle behind me. My hair was piled up on top with a band round and veil attached securly to that. No problems with it whatsover, even in 5" stilletoes! As for dancing - the veil and the train each had a little loop sewn in, designed to go round your middle finger so that all the material was swept up to one side (showing off frilled petticoat under plain dress) for climbing into car, dancing etc.

Thanks for the thread, it has awakened wonderful memories.

solo · 26/01/2010 01:48

I did and my little bridesmaid stepped on it going up the aisle! you could see my head tugged back in the video!

mummyloveslucy · 26/01/2010 01:54

I had one and it was lovely, at the evening do, I used it as a wrap.

LOL! MDs. Annoying at the teime, but becomes a dear memory ime

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 27/01/2010 07:41

Yes I did and I loved it. Very easy to move around with and it looked wonderful. I think I took it off before the evening do though.

gruber · 05/02/2010 21:42

Yes I did. But then I had cathedral length train so it just floated on top beautifully (had veil trimmed with satin so it had an "edge" IYSWIM).

Wore it through ceremony, took it off just before we sat down for meal. Looks absolutely stunning in photos, I have to say!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 05/02/2010 21:46

I did - it has little tiny seed pearls all over it. My veil was slightly longer than the train of my dress.

I think I took it off after we'd finished eating.

PrammyMammy · 10/02/2010 23:44

I have one, with tiny crystals over it, it is lovely. But my dress has a very detailed train so i probably won't wear it long after the ceremony, it was too lovely to resist though.
