Do you think weddings have become ridiculously expensive?

I've been thinking about how much weddings seem to cost these days🙄. Do you think it's possible to have a lovely wedding without spending a fortune, or does everything just add up no matter what you do? I'd love to hear how people approached their own weddings and what they felt was actually worth spending money on.🤗

Our wedding was £5K adjusted for inflation, including everything and held at my dads house, luck for us he has a field next to the house where we could put a marquee (not a fancy one, one for an agricultural show 😂). We made most things ourselves and are consistently told how lovely it was, even 30 years later.
