Irish wedding day 2

Does everyone stay and have another piss up? It’s on the invite as “Day 2 - please join us from 3pm at [pub]” for the second round of celebrations”

Flying from Manchester and making a short break of my time in Ireland and driving around a little bit, but not sure if will be expected to stay for the Day 2 or if can carry on with my trip.

Close friends with the couple and their families but not in bridal party.

Close friends and family typically do day 2 but it is very acceptable to opt out in your circumstances.

Second day is very loose. I've skipped day two after a cousin's wedding cos my mother was flying next day and had asked for a lift to airport. I've also gone to a couple of day two events only. I have a large tribe of cousins, in all the degrees.

The only day 2 I’ve ever attended was an immediate family member’s. I even opted out when I was a bridesmaid. Don’t worry about it and enjoy your driving about.

Yea most people close to the couple will do second day celebrations.

It’s likely it will include platters of pub finger food, and people will be dressed in nice but relaxed clothes (jeans and a nice top).

Depending on how far you are travelling onwards, it’s nice to pop in for an hour then hit the road, but if it’s (eg) Dublin and you are headed to the Wild Atlantic Way, and have four hours driving time, you would be better to get on the road late morning and stop on your journey.

Edited to add: if you are staying in the main hotel, you’ll see everyone at breakfast and in the lobby for a lengthy post-mortem, obligatory Lucozade and chat, so you will be less missed if you don’t stay on until 3pm.

Everyone is welcome to day 2! Its about letting your hair down and celebrating with the newlyweds without the wedding day stress!

Bit dressier than jeans ime.

Ime day 2 is not mandatory. it's a less formal dinner. A more casual smart affair for sure but not jeans. Depends on the venue probably.

Anyway you've got little time for that and you would definitely be forgiven for leaving to do an Atlantic Drive experience.
It's awesome. Have the best time.

I attended an Irish wedding where there was a lovely meal for family the day before the wedding, the wedding day and a post-wedding celebration - a bit more relaxed - in a pub.

I'm so glad that I was able to go.

TBH, I don't think I should have been at the pre-wedding meal, but I was honoured to be invited to it.

Best wedding I've ever attended.

I didn't go to day 2 last year at either of my cousin's weddings last year. We'd taken 2 days off work to fly in and be there for the evening before meet up and main day. I had a lazy morning, breakfast and walk around the hotel so saw a few people before we headed for the airport. No pressure for day 2 but I guess if you live close it's nice to have a few drinks and unwind after the big day.
