Would a civil partnership affect pensions, tax and documents in later life

WE are in our 70's. We have been together for nearly 50 years. We have shared mortgages and kids. We are quite happy not being married. We are concerned about Inheritance Tax. We think we are ok as believe we do not meet the tax level...but it is worrying us. If we went for a simple Civil Partnership would we have to tell our state pension, change my name on driving licence etc.

You don’t have to change your name even if you have a full wedding!
Most other things shouldn’t be affected except for the good. If you are living together then any affect on Benefits etc. will have already happened.

This is the current reason why being married is better for IHT. It’s better for dc to sort out after you have gone too in many ways. IHT might alter. All our unmarried friend couples are now married. Changed their views in their 60s.
