How do I deal with bottles on my wedding day

Jo4nne86 · 23/01/2026 15:08

Hi all, i'm getting married soon amd our baby will be 4 months old at that point. I was wondering how people might have dealt with this previously as I'm worried about how I sterilise bottles throughout the day or do I just buy more bottles and sterilise a load that morning to last 24 hours? Any advice is very appreciated

You could check with the venue if they would wash and sterilise a few bottles once you have used them. MAM bottles can be sterilised in the microwave. But if cost it’s too much of an issue, maybe just buy as many as you need for the day and bring them with you already sterilised.

Id buy more bottles and also i always brought washing up liquid and a steriliser whenever i stayed in a hotel. Im sure someone would be happy to go to your room and do a round if you a running low.

firstofallimadelight · 23/01/2026 15:11

I think you would need enough to last the duration so probably 8? As there’s unlikely to be a suitable place to wash bottles and sterilise them.

Loub1987 · 23/01/2026 15:11

Oh also you can buy sterilising bags to do in the microwave

Morecoffeethanks · 23/01/2026 15:12

A UV steriliser maybe? I’m sure the venue could wash them and then the UV steriliser only takes 3 minutes to sterilise.

I would just buy a pack of disposable sterilised bottles for the day, then you don't need to worry about it.

Mamabear487 · 23/01/2026 15:34

Take more easiest way!

Bloodycrossstitch · 23/01/2026 15:38

I would just have enough already sterilised to last the day, that way you don’t need to think or stress about it for the rest of the day.
And I’d buy the pre made bottles of milk rather than having to make it up through the day.

Do you have accommodation at the venue? Could always assign a trusted guest to wash bottles in your room and chuck in a tub of Milton until needed again

Toddlerteaplease · 23/01/2026 15:45

Personally I’d do what everyone did for years. Make up a days worth of bottles and put them in a fridge.

I would not do that! Some poor lady who can’t say no ends up having to leave the reception, go wash bottles and other jobs that anyone can think of! Usaually that is me! 😂

This, don't be messing around with sterilisers or carrying used bottles. These are not that expensive and it is only one day.

Also cartons of ready made formula too rather than decanting water and powdered formula.

Jo4nne86 · 23/01/2026 18:51

Thank you so much everyone! I think I'll try disposable bottles with the ready made formulas. Seems like the quickest and easiest option. We've not tried going out for a full day yet either, did not realise the complexities of going oht with a baby haha

Have a trial run in the run up to the wedding, incase baby decides it doesn't like the bottle style or a different formula to normal

This is great advice.

I sterilised enough bottles to last the day, and took a flask of hot water to make up the bottles. We stayed at the venue on our wedding night so then sterilised the next morning.

How did you know that the flask would keep the water at 70 degrees the minimum to kill the bacteria in the powder.

Happierwithouthim · 23/01/2026 19:33

I had a four month girl on my wedding day and we travelled for the wedding. I’d a microwave bag steriliser and ready made formula for the day itself and just sterilised that morning and again the following morning and was back to box formula the next day.

it’ll be fine enjoy your day

I used a thermos flask and it kept the water hot for 12+ hours. If your in doubt maybe ask the hotel for boiling water during the day and just let it cool down before adding the powder. The other option is ready made milk.

TiredMummma · 23/01/2026 21:05

A Milton bucket and a Milton tab. I expressed for my son and we travelled so we just kept the bottles in a their big plastic tub and carried Milton tabs. Did cold water sterilisation.

if you are using formula buy ready made bottles and then no issues!

Soonenough · 23/01/2026 21:17

Hopefully you will be able to delegate baby care to someone else on the day ?

GreenGooseGate · 24/01/2026 15:04

Milton wipes. Absolute game changer.
I had a bottle top that fitted on the top of mini ready made formula bottles and Milton wipes, worked perfectly for travel / days out without lugging loads of baby stuff.
