Just 4 Adults and small boy wedding. Ideas to support Happy Couple

Hello, I’m trying to help my son and his fiancé put together some ideas for a very low key wedding.
Bride to be has ideas on what she wants to wear and has asked for help choosing flowers.
They will probably have the ceremony in a register office with myself and husband as witnesses and just her son in attendance. The idea is to eat out at a restaurant afterwards to celebrate.
They will have a party for a few more friends at a later date.

Have any of you been in a similar situation (second time around) and few family that you want to include? How can I make it a day to remember for them both?
I’m grateful for any suggestions
Thanks x

Remember that not all Registry Offices are equal!

You can get married in a Registry Office anywhere in the country ( you still have to give notice in your local office) and there are some beautiful ones in amazing buildings.
Maybe the couple can choose to get married somewhere special to them and make a weekend of it ❤️

Are they early risers? Get the first appointment at the registry office and then you can make a day of it. An interesting car to do the driving, a brunch somewhere really lovely followed by a boat ride or a tour through the countryside with champagne and nibbles. A local company that organises stuff on a par with a package deal to Glyndebourne would know what’s available.

Then at the end, you take DGS home with you for the night.

Chat to your son about any flowers or colours that might have significance to her or them and design a bouquet based around them.

Maybe get a surprise kit of things to keep the child entertained and involved on the day - do disposable cameras still exist? Or get hold of a polaroid so he can take instant pictures.

Once the restaurant is booked can you order a bottle of champagne to be waiting on ice as you arrive, with a sparkling soft drink for her son? If that's the sort of thing they'd like.

Ooh thank you some lovely responses and ideas. I wonder if anyone has compiled. List of the prettiest register offices?

Oxford registry office was lovely when I went years ago. In London look at Marylebone, it’s where the rich and famous marry! A bit different is Paignton in Devon, was a lovely old building when I went years ago with steps outside ideal for photos.

a different idea but remember you can marry in your local church with two witnesses (plus extras as you want), I’ve organised three marriages like this - you dispense with the music and other bit so takes around 15 minutes, though we do put on background music to start with and each time the couple had given me champagne in advance which I got ready for the end. Sounds odd but they have been beautiful intimate occasions and you get to say the traditional vows etc

I had this exact wedding pretty much! But it was close best friends not parents that were the other adults. Our local civic hall reg office was beautiful. I had a dress from ghost, we had a bouquet for me and button holes for everyone else from a florist for £140. DC liked coordinating everyone chucking confetti on us on the steps of the civic hall after. Lovely meal in our favourite restaurant after. Someone took pics with a pro camera but lots of the best pics were just from camera phones. I would say the flowers are what made it weddingy and super special.

Small children do love confetti!

Depending on bride's tastes, I think flowers from family's gardens are very meaningful.
