I'm going to a wedding this weekend. It's the first one I've attended as an adult so looking for some advice on what is acceptable as a wedding gift these days?
I was thinking of spending £50-100, whilst my partner says our presence is enough 😳 it's the first time I'm meeting some of his family so I'm a bit nervous about the whole thing. I also think turning up empty-handed is a bit rude.
For context:
DP and I are in our late 20s. We live in the same city that we graduated from university so our families live some distance away. For this wedding, it is a 300-mile round trip for us, and a hotel for the night. With petrol costs, hotel, outfits and my partner having to take a day of annual leave for it (luckily it's HT and I'm a teacher, so it didn't affect me) I think DP feels that we've spend enough money on the day (about £250 so far). If I'm being honest, we'd struggle to afford much more than £20 this close to the day.
The Groom is a cousin of DP. They were fairly close growing up, but have drifted as they've gotten older. I haven't met the bride in person, although DP has.
Thanks in advance for your replies. I'm sure I'm probably overthinking this! 😳
