Marriage blessing

Hi
were getting married this year, and as we’re both divorced, the minister in our family Baptist chapel cannot marry us. I’m currently waiting to see whether we can have a marriage blessing following a quiet registry office wedding. I don’t know anyone personally who’s done this, but would love to hear if any of you have, and what the day looked like?

I've been to 3 blessings over the years.
Each one has been on a different day from the legal wedding.

First one was a couple who had go married when they were living abroad in what was a very small, civil ceremony, who had what was to all intents and purposes a very traditional Church wedding some months later when they were home, with all family, friends, and Church members invited, a 'walking down the aisle', big white dress, then family and friends off to a Reception meal and then dancing the night away.
Other one was a similar idea, where the couple had had to get married by a certain date because of visas, but wanted to have a lovely Summer wedding with all family and friends later.
Third was a couple whose pre-booked wedding was cancelled because of COVID restrictions, who had a blessing which again looked very much like a traditional Church wedding 18 months later, once they were allowed to celebrate with family and friends.

So, none of which probably help you, but this might bump your thread for people who have experiences more like your situation.

It used to be very common for divorced people. Even The King and Queen followed this route for their wedding!
Depending on size of the venues, you can invite people to either or both ceremonies - do it however you like.

You'll have to ask your minister.

Some Baptist churches would marry you, and certainly other denominations (Methodist, URC, some C of E).

My fiancé and I are both divorced and we are marrying in our Baptist Church this summer so I assume it's a decision for the minister.

If marrying in church/having a blessing is important to you I'd ask if another Baptist minister could lead the service, or try another church.

Does it have to be Baptist? I know put local Methodist Minister will marry divorced couples.
