I booked my hen do only to find out I am unable to fly due to being 29 weeks pregnant. It is 5 months away and the flight costs £60 to amend for my friends to use the flight on whatever they want. Do I offer to pay or do I pay towards a uk hen do so they pay less. Should I just apologise?? Thoughts please as I do feel bad and would love to still be going

So are you 29 weeks pregnant now or will you be 29 weeks on your hen do? If you’re going to be 29 weeks pregnant on the hen do I don’t understand why you won’t be able to fly? If you’re 29 weeks pregnant now I’m not sure by you didn’t say anhyhig to them earlier!

Overthebow · 12/01/2025 10:19

If you’ll be 29 weeks unless it’s a high risk pregnancy you will still be able to fly.

Comff · 12/01/2025 10:20

Are they able to get their money back or do they have to use the money as credit towards another flight?

If it’s the latter that makes things more complicated as they’ll have to book another holiday and might not have had availability/finances to do so.

I will be 29 weeks when I fly. I phoned the airline and they said after 28 weeks I can’t fly. They actually knew I was pregnant straight away so I have let them know

You don’t need to cancel

olympicsrock · 12/01/2025 10:23

Sorry cross post

xlilyx · 12/01/2025 10:27

I phoned the airline and they said I am not allowed to fly after 28 weeks

Which airline?

Ryanair:

  • 28 weeks and beyond
  • After 28 weeks, pregnant passengers must have a "fit to fly" letter from their doctor or midwife. This letter must be dated within two weeks of the flight's departure date. Ryanair may refuse to allow pregnant passengers to board without this letter.

Easyjet allow up to 35 weeks.

^^

Agree with the two previous posts, the BA website is quite clear on the subject. (once you can get it to load).

@xlilyx you’ve been given incorrect advice over the telephone.

CombatBarbie · 12/01/2025 13:10

I went to a wedding in Mexico at 8 months pregnant, just got a fit to fly certificate from midwife/doc and had it inside my passport. I don't actually think it was even checked.

ByQuaintAzureWasp · 12/01/2025 13:21

How much have they paid? Suggest they just go without you.

summerlovingvibes · 13/01/2025 09:48

I flew with BA when 34 weeks pregnant. No issue at all.

@xlilyx

I will be 29 weeks when I fly. I phoned the airline and they said after 28 weeks I can’t fly.

You’ve not been back so TBH I’m still puzzled as to who at BA you spoke to.

For info the airline used to have a 28 week trigger for some of the paperwork but any call centre handler mentioning 28 weeks now, in this context, would I suspect have to be using a very old script.

Coming up to date AFAIK the screen snap shot provided by @JimHalpertsWife from ba.com is the current state of the rules and there’s no mention of any 28 week requirement that I can see.

TBH these days when dealing with almost any airline I’d always look at the website first, rather than ringing a call center for info on things like this - anyhow, see “Travelling when you’re pregnant” at:

I've flown BA a few times at 29 weeks pg (and later!) with no problem. They just need to see your fit to fly letter from your midwife or Dr.
