Wedding dress donation

Hi! I have decided that I would really like to donate my wedding dress to be made into clothes for babies born sleeping - or to a charity that might be able to make use to it. I have just trawled the web trying to find a suitable baby loss charity but without success. Any ideas please? Thankyou!

Why no success?

I'd start with asking in your local Facebook groups as the nearer they are, the less it will cost to get the dress to them.

Most St Luke’s resell wedding dresses. I wish I knew before I bought mine from a shop and paid a fortune!
I donated mine there after a few years of holding on to it for my daughters I realised it’s better to donate it as they want to choose their own.

'Brides do good' take second hand wedding dresses and resell them. A third of their profits go to a charity that works to end child marriage globally. I would recommend

Cherished gowns

Don't know the web address. They turn dresses into outfits for stillborn babies.

Put it on Ebay - and say you want to donate to someone for their wedding and not to make a profit on it and only approve the sale when you are happy

Alterntively you could put it on sale and write to a "good home" ideally and any money you get - give the money to a charity close to your heart!!
##Good luck

Unfortunately they are no longer accepting dresses either and their website has closed, but I will keep looking!

Most of the babies born sleeping charities are overwhelmed with offers of wedding dresses so rarely need to open for donations.

There's a wonderful charity in Exeter who provide weddings for terminally ill people. They will offer donated dresses to brides in these weddings, or sell them to raise funds for the future.

https://www.weddingwishingwell.org.uk/gown-donation (website is under refub apparently, so it's a bit glitchy in formatting!)

They only pay for one employee to manage it all, everyone else is a volunteer.

Was also going to suggest the wedding wishing well foundation. I bought a dress then changed my mind so still had the first one, they sent a courier to come and pick it up from my house. They were lovely to deal with and as the previous poster said, make magic happen for terminally ill brides and grooms to have their special day.
