Translated documents for giving notice HELP

I need to arrange an appointment to give notice to marry and my DH to be is not a British citizen however has settled status and is subject to no immigration rules.

He has been married before and needs to provide a translated copy of his divorce papers. The quote we have received is for an email copy only and an accompanying certificate confirming the translation has been made by a competent translator.

To me this doesn't feel like it will be sufficient. Do we need a notarised document? I can't seemed to find an answer beyond a translated copy.

Anyone else done this recently and know for sure? As it will an expensive mistake to make if it's no good! Thanks

The translation can be done by a friend or family member as long as they provide their details and confirm that is an exact translation of the original.
The only people who cannot provide the translation are the couple getting married - so you or your partner could not translate the document. All seals and stamps etc should also be transcribed.
Only original documents can be accepted though so I'd be surprised that an emailed copy would be ok.
For peace of mind you should simply email/contact the register office where you are giving notice and get the above information from them.

We got a formal translation in the end just to ensure all would be sufficient and for peace of mind but thanks for your reply
