Disney Song for First Dance?

Hi all,

We're booking the band for the wedding and they've asked for a song for the first dance. My DP is not keen on any of my suggestions but has suggested a very well known Disney Song (along the lines of Beauty and the Beast / Let it Go). Is this cringe or not? I told my bridesmaids and they told me you just wouldn't pick it for the first dance. Especially because it's usually sung in an accent 😬

So yay or nay?

They are all lovely songs.

I've spoken to the band and they're not mad keen but I think they'll do it. I have faith they won't do the accent (even though I could not sing it myself without subconsciously going there!!). Luckily I've got until 2 weeks before the wedding to confirm the song.

If it was 'our' song I'd completely embrace it - screw the haters - but it's a bit left field. I asked why he wanted that song and he said it's because he knows it's from my favourite Disney film, which is... sweet I guess? He keeps singing it around the house now 🙈

Our first dance song is a breakup song 😅 so I think have whatever you want.

That's exactly what came to my mind. I would cringe, it's the kind of thing American couples would love and then post all over YouTube.
