Did you get your hair and make up professionally done?

I've been quoted £500! Im only have a small registry office wedding with c.34 people and I'm not sure I can justify the cost however I'm not great at doing my own hair and make up.

Did you get yours done professionally and did you think it was worth it?

I paid about £80/90 each for hair and make up, plus extra for travel and trials.

I found a make up artist with a really natural style that specialises in make up for pale skin so I felt like myself without being orange. Having the trial before was also worthwhile so I could try different shades of eyeshadow, lipstick etc. It was worth every penny, I felt completely pampered and relaxed on the day and both lasted well in to the night which I'd never have achieved on my own.

Paid about £150 for mine and bridesmaid hair but went to the salon, she opened early especially for us. Makeup was free - I booked the Boots counter 😀 did a nice natural but lasting look.

If you're wanting people to travel to you it will cost a lot, they can't take bookings the whole time they are away from the salon and will have to build in extra time in case of delays, traffic etc.

No to both. I don’t normally wear makeup but did use a little on my my eyes.

My hair is very wavy/curly so it did itself.

I went to my normal hairdresser (very local) for a normal wash, cut and blow dry on the morning of my wedding and then my sister, who is good at stuff like this, did my makeup for me.

I got my friends to do mine! We went for a trial at the Bobbi Brown counter and bought some of the products, and the lady gave my friend quite detailed instructions about how she was doing it. Another friend curled my hair and pinned some of it back with a floral comb. I felt lovely on the day

I don't usually wear make up so as to going to go for a makeup artist who might make me look too different.
A few weeks before the wedding I made an appointment with one of the make up counters at a department store for advice and a trial. I chose Elizabeth Arden, but Im the right age for that: pick something good for you. I bought the products that I hadn't seen before/I felt made the biggest difference and then bought other products from less expensive ranges for the rest. I felt amazing on my wedding day and the photos made me a dewy version of myself rather than a perfect doll. I have no regrets.
I think if you wear makeup regularly and want a step up than a MUA might be worth it, otherwise save the money and spend it on something more fun.

No, I wanted to look like me. Every time I’ve had my make up done it’s not really felt like me.

Same here. I'm sure I'd have looked better with my hair and makeup done, but everyone already knows the normal plain old me, I didn't see the point!
