Still White - anyone bought their dress here?

How does it work? I just can’t envisage anyone taking the risk of paying hundreds of pounds to buy a dress they’ve never seen or been able to try on. Isn’t it a ridiculous gamble? Most sellers don’t appear to accept returns if it just doesn’t fit.

I don’t have the easiest figure to dress and am large, so suspect it’s not for me but am so in love with the Grace Loves Lace designs. I’d love one second hand but don’t think it’d be a wise move.

Any advice/experience appreciated!

I looked on StillWhite. Didn't get one on there in the end but nearly did, my conclusion was you either:
a) find a seller you can travel to and ask to try it on (I did this)
b) you try on a named designer dress in a bridal shop, know the size you need, then buy that named dress (nearly did this)
Or riskier c) you know the style you want, ask for a shedload of photos and have enough time to get it adjusted.

I think it's a great option if you can do the above but agree it's not as straightforward as the website makes it sound! Good luck!

I did! It's sitting in my spare room waiting for fittings next year.

Mine was from a bridal shop in Chicago randomly enough and was an ex sample dress so not really second hand I guess.

I measured myself and they confirmed the fit for me. It's absolutely unreal, I cannot wait to wear it

Hmmm yes definitely not straightforward. I don’t think it’s the path for me but I’ve got my heart set on a GLL or Wilderly Bride dress, might try a few on to gauge the fit and see whether I can find a size 18 or to then take it in. Bridal sizes seem minuscule though, I’m a tall 14-16 UK size so maybe even a bridal size 20 is more my ballpark. The whole thing is just ….. complicated. So many lovely Wilderly dresses in the US though, just can’t get my head around their sizing.

You could ask seller for measurements.
But yes you definitely need to try on as many as possible, then you'll know what you're looking for.
Good luck!

You could try on in wedding dress shops then buy second hand?

And yes, wedding dress sizes are weird! They're teeny tiny some of them compared to "street" sizes. The brand I bought is thankfully quite true to size but still on the small side.

I gave my dress to a charity shop. You could always research what charity shops in your area (if any) have wedding dresses.

I sold my dress on stillwhite and the whole experience was great. The dress was very expensive to purchase so still thousands for the buyer second hand.
I sent her loads of detailed photos so she could see how the hem looked after I wore it, what any alterations looked like etc.
Then she came and tried the dress on and it fitted her like a dream so she bought it.
She loved it and I was happy someone else got to wear such a gorgeous dress on their day rather than it sitting in a box for 30 years and going off colour!

I sold my dress on stillwhite. I provided measurements and luckily it fit the person who bought it perfectly, no alterations needed. It was a brand new dress with tags, but I'd changed my mind on it and missed the return window. They ended up getting a great deal.
