Dress help - with or without belt?!

I’ve chosen my dress, but I wasn’t sure about the belt. Originally I wanted very simple.. then I chose the cathedral length pearl covered veil.. 😅 so not so simple now.. they put a belt on the dress and although I loved it I thought maybe it cut me off in the middle and drew eyes to my middle.. but the more I look at the pictures the more I’m beginning to like the belt - I need opinions!

Without.

Definitely without. That is a beautiful, classic dress and I think the belt detracts from that to be honest. It will also interfere with the look from the back if the dress has a button back. I also agree with the poster who said belts are very “now” and will date the overall look in years to come.

Seriously, that dress is beautiful and already shows off your waist nicely, IMO the belt just adds unnecessary fuss.

Hard to tell because the pic without also doesn’t have the veil so it’s not a true comparison. I think that’s why the pic without looks like it is missing something. It looks lovely with and without (not helpful I know!)

Burnamer · 11/09/2022 14:43

Without.

But I think that might be because I don’t really like that particular belt. I think something sewn on as suggested upthread would be better than a belt tied at the back. What about a more simple line of sparkle that goes from side seam to side seam. It won’t interrupt the buttons at the back but would look more part of the dress?

SiobhanSharpe · 11/09/2022 14:46

I don't think the belt adds anything, really, if anythingit's a little too much, especially with the diamanté on an otherwise classic dress.

tellyiscrap · 11/09/2022 14:49

I have no fashion sense so cannot help but you do look really beautiful in it 💐

ShedHead7 · 11/09/2022 14:55

Without. Especially as it has a button up back.

villainousbroodmare · 11/09/2022 15:00

You look gorgeous apart from the pumpkin makeup 🤣

Yes, both nice but belt is better... but imo not that belt! As a pp said, I would try for sash type thing sewn on at the front to accentuate the waist but not interfere with the row buttons at the back. Should be the work of a moment for a dressmaker to show you how that would look.

I think your indecision is because the belt idea is right but just not that one.

Another vote for without 😍

No belt.

WildCherryBlossom · 11/09/2022 15:28

Without. You'll be holding your bouquet as well so keep the front simple.

UpendedPineapple · 11/09/2022 15:36

Without. Otherwise it looks like you've just added a belt - not that it was originally part of the dress.

MummyDrinksWine · 13/09/2022 12:43

Thank all! I’m trying to lose a little bit of weight before the wedding anyway so perhaps once I have I might feel better without the belt as the dress might fall a bit nicer! - I find the seam on the hips/waist feel like it pushed up a little by the mahoosive hips!😂

I also think without OP.

Im having a similar issue as my dress comes with a belt which is very pretty but I think the dress would look more streamlined without it

Charliehaus · 18/09/2022 21:15

Without
love the simplicity of the dress
it needs no bling

Bearthepooh · 02/10/2022 18:05

I think without also, it looks classier and more modern without.

Do you mind sharing the name/designer of the dress? I'm looking for something similar and we have a similar body shape. 😅

WhatAPoolava · 03/10/2022 10:33

@Bearthepooh its a wed2b dress, it’s called Klara! I was chuffed to bits as I was always taught that having a bigger bust meant having to have a lace up back, which I’m not a fan of, but this is button back all the way to the floor and I absolutely love it.

it also has a really thick support strap inside that made it extra comfy too 🤭
