How to describe this style of dress?

Help desperately required for a very clueless bride to be!

I’m planning my wedding for May 2024 and have my eye on a specific type of dress but have no idea what the style is actually called, so I’m having some difficulty finding examples on UK-based bridal websites. Pinterest has loads of inspiration but not knowing the name of the style isn’t helping me find real-life buy-able examples of what I want!

I’ve attached some photos here to give an idea of the style which in summary is:

  • ”Boho” style (I think…!)
  • Simple skirt
  • NOT strapless
  • Lace or lace-type crochet/cut-out bodice - I have no idea what this is called but the photos make it clear
I love the style of the Grace Loves Lace dresses but £2k for a dress is way above my price range.

If anyone could help with identifying the type of style, and even better some links to actual websites or shops that’d be ace! I’m keen to avoid the China-based online ones as I have an awkward body shape for dresses (tall, athletic build, wide shoulders, no waist, no boobs, size 16) and can’t be doing with the hassle of refused returns.

Thanks so much!

Similar vibe?
Am biased as my dress came from Monsoon Grin

Check out the Needle & Thread website, some gorgeous ones in this style on there.

Look up Anna Bridal in Ringwood, Hampshire. Her instagram page has loads of styles similar and will help with designers if too far for a visit!

Wed2b have a great selection of dresses at reasonable prices, you will probably find similar within budget.

OP that is a really specific dress style. Is this a starting point or do you have your heart set on it? It's definitely boho, and sort of a soft a-line. Probably a chiffon skirt. I'd suggest you try to find some designers whose general style you like. From those pics I suggest looking at Lillian West, Shikoba and Anna Kara. You don't say where you're based but there's a shop in Edinburgh called Oscar Lili with a few really similar dresses on their site. Then find a boutique near you that stocks that designer, and go to try some dresses on. I don't know your budget but it's potentially still worth visiting boutiques as sometimes they can sell the sample dress at a reduced cost (but you'd need to be careful with sizing, bridal sizing runs small). Wed2B can be good if you're on a real budget but I think it works best if you're less set on a style, you have to just work with what they have in stock in your size so it's unlikely they'd have exactly what you're looking for.

I associate Suzanne Neville, Justin Alexander and Pronovias with clean lines and crepes or glamorous lace, they're not designers I'd think of as boho really.

Since your wedding is a while away I'd also suggest not rushing into a purchase. I bought a sample dress in February that was a bargain (as far as wedding dresses go) because I couldn't justify spending 2k on a dress. 6 months later I'm about to go and try on dresses from the designers I actually like because turns out the dress is more important than I thought and actually I do want to spend a bit more... Expensive mistake!

That dress is beautiful. This was mine but I'm not sure it ticks all of your boxes

Mine sort of had those vibes- the lace part could also be described as an illusion neckline (if you wanted it to look like lace painted on bare skin, but still wanted sleeves etc)

Mine was the Wtoo line, which I believe is a part of Watters (which is the more expensive main line). My dress was the Wtoo Marnie, which had a light tulle skirt over a rose gold underlay.

@KimmySchmitt just had a proper look at your suggestions - absolutely spot on, thank you SO much! I’m Midlands based but have family in Edinburgh. Shikoba is also pretty much exactly what I’m looking for. Loads of research to do but at least this puts me on the right track!
