High street wedding dresses

LBF2020 · 01/06/2022 22:49

I'm getting married in September (eek!!) and I've been struggling to find a dress. We've been to a few bridal shops and I didn't like anything. I have tried some dresses from monsoon, whistles and reformation and although they weren't quite right I much preferred them to the bridal shop dresses. I think it's because they have less fabric/lining?

Anyway.. any other recommendations for high street wedding dresses?

I'm aware (and have tried stuff on from)
Monsoon
Whistles
Selfridges
Reformation
Coast

Thanks all Grin

French brand Sessun do a wedding collection which I think is beautiful, and ship to the U.K. en.sessun.com/catalogue/sessun-wedding.html

It is such a nice collection. I'm not sure if I've left it a bit late for one of the Suzanne Neville dresses though :-(
I'll look through the other links. Thanks Smile

John Lewis , I've just typed in Wedding Dresses. They have lots.

Ooh thanks! I hadn't thought of John Lewis or Debenhams for that matter! Will take a look.
I do love that whistles dress.

My wedding dress was from Jarlo. I loved it, very unfussy buy had a sort of old Hollywood feel. Quite a few with a similar feel to that first reformation one you posted.

I've not heard of this or BHLD. Going to look now. Thanks so much Smile

Not sure if I would consider Highstreet but I love the ref collection. Want to get married just so I can wear one

Others have said it, but Phase Eight are very good. The stand alone stores have a bridal area and trying on suite and go all out to help you find the one. I went with someone to a fitting and the dress which she’d never have tried without the assistant’s persuasion was perfect (and purchased). The store also had details of an alteration tailor as the bride wanted a shorter sleeve.

Did you know Oxfam have bridal departments in some of the shops? They take in the samples as well as pre-worn ones, would be worth a look at your nearest one maybe?

One of my cousins bought her wedding dress from a charity shop and then just paid to have it altered. She looked beautiful. Hope you find something suitable soon.

ASOS and needle and thread have beautiful dresses. There are also lots of beautiful dresses on Etsy. We ended up in the registry office during Covid but I loved this Etsy store - www.etsy.com/ie/shop/WardrobeByDulcinea

I got married recently (April) and bought mine from Raishma raishma.co.uk/collections/ready-to-wear-wedding-dresses

Another recommendation for BHLDN. They are the bridal arm of Anthropologie and have just the kind of thing you are describing.
And many congratulations on your upcoming wedding. Wishing you every happiness.

not that it's needed at this point but cymbeline does a "civile" collection that is lovely
