Candles for wedding

Hi all,

I am in the early stages of planning my wedding but one thing I know for sure is that I would love a LOT of candles and candlelit decor e.g. floating tea lights, pillar candles etc.

Do candles usually come supplied by the venue/florist? If not can you recommend good places to buy them?

Thanks in advance!

There is no way of replying to that question OP!!! Do you mean you want candles at a registry office, church, synagogue, other venue or at the reception venue? Are you in the UK? Many places don't allow real candles with a flame due to their insurance and the safely aspect. I would look into those realistic looking tea light flames if that is what you are aiming for? There is not 1 answer for ALL venues/churches/place etc. Why not ask the place you want the wedding at???

You might have a problem with having a lot of candles. From a safety perspective, many venues aren't keen. I got married in a stately home and we weren't even able to have a candle ceremony due to the fire risk.

I would think you'll need to liaise with the venue you go for on this and see what elements or amount they're comfortable with (eg they may be ok with candelabra on the tables, but not pillar candles on the floor), and then it'll be up to you to source.

I work in a wedding venue. We allow candles.. but I’d recommend buying your own from home bargains (or similar) rather than through florist who will charge you soo much for something you could buy for £1!

Agree with others, check with your venue first! Ours don't allow real candles so we've got battery tea-lights.

My venue allowed candles but only if they were contained somehow - like in those glass pillars or jars, no tea lights about and freestanding sticks, as others have said this is due to fire risk, so be sure to check with your venue.

If you want it to be part of a floral centre piece then this would normally be the florist to do it, but if it's a separate decoration in addition to flowers then I think it would be a venue dresser. Check with your venue if you can't find anything, they normally have lists of recommended suppliers.
