How much did you pay for flowers?

Hi all

Due to have my florist meeting this week & just want to brace myself 😂
How much did you pay for yours? Did you give them a budget & they work with that or did you give them ideas & after they give you the estimated cost?
Doing my own arrangements & bouquets is not an option as I want to be relaxed before & during the day and also don't want to add stress to any of my family or friends by asking them to do it.
TIA xxx

Got married last week… £2k!

Huge bouquet for me, 2 x bridesmaids, 2 large arrangements for fireplaces/top table and cut flowers in simple glass jars for 80 guests. Also 5 x thank you bouquets for Mum’s/step Mum’s/grandparents and buttonholes/corsages for 15.

So it was a big order- we tried to use the money where it would be most noticeable so my bouquet, top table etc, then kept it simple for the rest.

I thought I might regret it as flowers die but our florist did an EXCEPTIONAL job and I had so many comments on them throughout the day. We originally got a pre-Covid quote for £1k but apparently the cost price of flowers has doubled in the pandemic.

We went through everything we wanted for the day, venue etc and then she designed it and quoted us. It was around £2500 for bouquet, 3x bridesmaid bouquets, 6 buttonholes, 2 corsages for both mums, table centrepieces, fireplace arrangements. They were beautiful and so worth it

£280.

£80 for bridal bouquet which was made for me by a local florist.

I made buttonholes with store bought roses and gypsophelia. I've always done flower arranging so for me it was easy to keep this cost down.

We had the house two days before, so my hens came, drank Prosecco and helped me decorate with huge vases of roses from the supermarket and greenery (cut from the gardens).

My flowers were from Tesco and they gave me the unopened boxes in crates in my car. I filled the car. It's a very inexpensive way to do flowers.

I also paid for some really beautiful artificial rose swags that had been used for another wedding. They were exceptionally beautiful and you couldn't tell they were artificial.
These adorned the doors and we wound them up the staircase in the main hall.
I sold them on again for what I paid so they were cost neutral.

I'm all for style on a shoestring.

About £400 for my bouquet, 4 wrist corsages, 4 buttonholes and around 30 small vases / jars for tables. We're getting married this June.

booplefloof · 28/02/2022 00:11

£130! I kept it very minimal

soupmaker · 28/02/2022 00:14

£150. My bouquet, my witness' bouquet and a flower ball for DD. Seasonal British flowers in July. Our venue had house plants on our tables. Was perfect for us.

£700 for bridal bouquet, 3x bridesmaids, corsages and buttonholes, 4 table arrangements, and pots for the aisle. They were absolutely gorgeous and worth every penny. Like previous poster I concentrated the spend on the hand held bouquets as that was more important to me.

mum2bee2022 · 28/02/2022 06:16

£1600 in 2021

DockOTheBay · 28/02/2022 07:39

I guess it depends what you want. We had balloons for centrepieces as they were much cheaper than flowers.

I did my own bouquet and posies for the bridesmaids and didn't find it added much stress, but if you were doing full arrangements I guess it would

About £600 13 years ago. Lots of flowers from a local florist. Roses, peonies and sweet peas. Sweet peas were grown by the florist. She was a diamond - they were spectacular!

Had some ridiculous quotes - 2k or when I mentioned a budget just that they could do it for the price.

I didn't just go on price. She was most up for collaborating with all the bits I'd put /scavenged together for decorations (teacups, cake stands, birdcages, pearls, fabric etc). It was a very cliched vintage-style wedding Wink

My florist was just starting out at a new shop at a garden centre and gave me a very detailed costing. I think she got another 5 or 6 weddings from mine.

I'd still use her today if she was closer (took on another shop 30 miles away), although still use her for big bouquets.

Just meet as many florists as possible, go and see them. Don't discount start ups on industrial parks over high st shops.

An alternative is getting the bouquets done by a florist and table centres by yourself/friends. I've done this a few times and it can look great with a smidge of planning.

Swanwithtwonecks · 28/02/2022 09:28

Paid £500 17 years ago, x 2 bouquets, buttonholes and table centerpieces.

I got into flower arranging through lockdown and follow loads on Instagram so if it was now I'd do it myself. Gypsophila and loads of greenery can look lovely for example. You can forage the greenery from people's gardens (with permission!). Flowers are v expensive at mo as well (as in the big orders from Holland etc), due to Brexit and other issues.

£370 for bride bouquet, 1 bridesmaid bouquet, a small arrangement for registrar table, and 15 buttonholes / corsages and 3 deliveries !! Were having Balloons / lights at the venue However, we've postponed due to covid and our quote was given in late 2019.

StScholastica · 03/03/2022 23:24

£240 in 1996. Smile

violetanemone · 07/03/2022 15:14

Flowers are one of those things where you can really go to town or you can cut back if you're not so bothered. As some people above have said, if you just want the basics it can come in under £150. I think you're sensible not to do your own, people really tend to underestimate the skill and care involved in doing flowers.

Lazypuppy · 07/03/2022 15:21

£300 for 4 bouquets, 5 button holes and 4 centre pieces.

Bought fake flowers are paid a family friend to put them together

Fillion · 09/03/2022 06:02

It depends on how much I like it, if I really like it, I will buy no matter how expensive.
