Witnesses?

Like many others we have had to postpone our wedding, was meant to be May and now July 17th! I don't think I can cope with changing it again so we had the idea of just me, dp and our 2 kids whilst everyone else watches via video link at the reception venue. So my question is, can children be witnesses to a wedding?

I have tried googling and looking at the info from my local authority but all I can find is that while there is no legal age limit, the witnesses must be able to understand what is happening (obviously!). Our kids are 13 and 9. Any advice welcome!

Congratulations :)

It's unlikely that your children will be able to be witnesses. Sad There's no legal age limit as far as I'm aware but most clergy/registrars will want witnesses to be sixteen or over as they have to be "credible".

I dont think so
but Mnetters do love witnessing a wedding (I have done it for a lovely couple and their children) so if you give the date and approximate location you might get volunteers

Most places prefer 18 + but there is no actual legal set limit

I've looked into this and it depends on the person officiating, I'm hoping my Fiancé's daughter will be able to be a witness at 12, my DD is over 18 so not a problem, otherwise we'll need another person there we really want it to be just the four of us.
