Hi everyone!

How much would you be happy to spend on beautiful handmade wedding favours for your guests?

Thanks!

£0 - you are paying for people to have a meal

I made rainbow meringue kisses, they were cheap, easy and simple to make. I wouldn’t spend lots of money on favours, you really don’t need them. Put the money towards the bar instead or late night food to soak up the alcohol!

Well yes but you should still be grateful that they've travelled to your wedding, bought new outfits, possibly booked an overnight hotel, sorted out childcare and bought you a wedding present.

It's fine to thank them in person but some couples like to buy a small token to say thanks . That could be anything (eg a lottery ticket as above) of any value. It's also a (albeit slightly old fashioned) tradition.

Nothing for adults wedding favours. I went to two weddings at the same venue. The first wedding had candle holders and candles as a wedding favour. Bulky and awkward to carry home, lots were left at the venue. At the second wedding the candle holders and candles were on the tables as part of the decor. So obviously the venue had just kept and used them.

Wedding party bags for children are a great idea.

Are you sure the bulky and awkward to carry candles with holders were wedding favours MissMarple? Grin

I wonder if you inadvertently stole the table decoration when you left.

We had mini macaroons as our wedding favours.

Didn’t think anyone would want things they took away with them.

I know because the wedding favours were mentioned in speeches.

I was one of those who left the candle and holder behind too Blush

I bought Cancer Research pin badges so the money went to charity - but if I were to buy sweet treats I would spend up to £2 each max

SmileyClare · 14/05/2021 16:57

Ah that is disappointing MissMarple I had a hilarious vision of you staggering out with the table decorations stuffed in your handbag, and guests looking at you like Hmm

I must admit great big candle holders are an odd choice of wedding favour but at least the venue benefited!

My friend works at a Hotel and the staff get to keep them if they're left as they'd chuck them out - she's had all sorts of bits but I personally wouldn't bother it's a waste of money

We've cancelled our wedding 3 times now. We lost a bit of money.
We're finally thinking about next year for our wedding and I honestly all the tat that goes with weddings are off our list. I realise it's not important and no one cares.
Having cancelled and with the awful pandemic my perspective has changed.
We're not bothering with lots of flowers and extras ...which a year ago I obsessed over.

I had small chocolate frogs in boxes that my mum made. I thought something fun for the kids, but edible so no-one feels obliged to have it in their house forever more! We also had little packs for the kids of old-fashioned drinks bottles with straws (plastic bottles) with some games and crayons and sweets inside.

I've been to weddings where we've had small plants to take home which were tricky as we had to take them back to the hotel in the taxi. No bags, just pots and soil - nightmare!

I've purchased charity pin badges from Alzheimers Society to pop in little bags as favours. The money goes to a charity thats means a lot to me (and a lot of my family who will appreciate it), I think a little pin is something people might keep as well.
