Wedding Fayres... the good, the bad and the ugly

In a nutshell, I have an ice cream business and have a tricycle. I'm soon going to be attending my first ever wedding fayre as I'm hoping to grow that side of the business.

Current plan of action

  • take the ice cream tricycle, and dress it up as I would for a wedding (faux ivy and flowers up the parasol, for instance)
  • do free samples of ice cream (the ice cream itself is really the selling point as we make our own)
  • ability to book instantly on the day, with a 10% discount (but does this come off as being too pushy?)
  • leaflets to take away

I'm hoping to get some feedback from people who've attended as a couple on what they found useful / not so useful at such fayres.

Any advice welcome for this little business owner :)

Have you done the fayre yet? How did it go?

I think your plan (and business) sounds great, although I'm not sure how many people would book you there and then. I wouldn't, even if I was sure your service was what I wanted.

Maybe you could offer the discount if they book within two weeks of the fayre? To claim the discount they just register their interest with you/your website on the day - so you can verify them back.

If there was something like this when I got married I would've booked you Smile

I booked at lot from wedding fayre but most flyers said you get a discount if you booked with 7 days etc so I had time to go and talk it though beforehand. Some were attended with mum, sister moh so it was only far to discuss when we got home
