I get married next year, August 2020 and I have no idea what I need to do, I have put a deposit down for my registrar and I don't know what I need to do about the notice of marriage! Everyone I've asked has been married in a church so they have no idea! Any help would be amazing!
Thank you.

You usually need to make an appointment to give notice at your local register office. You must have lived in that registration district for the past 7 days.

When I booked my registrar they sent a email to me saying the fee of £307 so would that include the notice of marriage or would I need to pay extra for the notice? I'm so confused 😂

Our notice fee was separate and we paid it when we booked the appointment online, £35 each

You need to physically go in and see the registrar with your partner. It seems to be £35 each across the UK.

Caveat I got married 15 years ago so things may have changed :

Are you getting married in the same district as you both live ? If Yes then its easy, just make an appointment to see the registrar and hand over the paperwork . Wait 14 days and its done. I think you then have another pre wedding appointment to run through ceremony details , sign paperwork etc.

If you live in a different district then you have to do the above, but then get a certificate and take that to the registrar marrying you. You then have the pre wedding appointment with them. If you are marrying at a licensed venue as opposed to a registry office then make your booking for that asap. In this case there are fees to separate registrars

If you're in England or Wales then you register where you live. Just call up to make an appointment. I think it's only valid for a year so you can't do it more than a year in advance. You'll need a few documents but they'll tell you what.

Don't think we had to take a certificate to the registrar who was marrying us, possibly it's electronic these days?
