Edible wedding favours

I wondered if anybody could help me with ideas please? I wasn't going to bother with favours at my wedding. But we finish the ceremony at midday, go for a drink in a local bar for an hour or so, and then go on for lunch afterwards. I don't expect anyone will start eating lunch until 2pm.

So, I have looked into having some canapes at the bar but it is just too expensive (and I would prefer to put that money behind the bar). So I thought I might hand out some favours after the ceremony, for people to nibble on the way to the bar. Does this sound like a good idea? So far I have thought about chocolate brownies, fudge, strawberries, or rocky road. Does anybody have any other ideas please?

I am hopeless at wedding planning and really need help!

I went to a wedding last year and the bride had made tablet for the wedding favours, it was delicious!

Cupcakes / doughnuts / brownies sounds best to me - easy to take one and eat without being messy (but tbf I have a big sweet tooth!).

Well it's really lovely that you are thinking of your guests and trying to make sure they aren't ravenous....but personally speaking I would rarely never choose anything sweet as a "filler" Could you maybe think of a savoury option too - maybe cheese and crackers definitely a Greggs sausage roll

I don't think you'll be wanting to mess around with favours between ceremony and lunch. Much easier to just have on table. We had fudge, Devon wedding.

Can't you just get the pub to put out nuts and crisps - no one needs anything massive if there's a lunch to come. ?

Keep it simple - you'll have enough on your plate and you need to be able to relax and enjoy it.

I had the jumbo quality street 'purple one' as wedding favours. My friend had ferreo Rochers (3 in a pack) as hers. What about bags of flavoured pretzels in a clear bag and tied with a ribbon?

We have arranged for our venue to put out savoury nibbles (crisps, nuts, olives etc) as we couldn't afford canapés either. They will be out with arrival drinks.

StealthPolarBear · 17/03/2019 19:33

Agree though that this needs savoury

wonderwoo · 17/03/2019 21:23

Great. Not sure why I didnt think of crisps out to nibble on! Perfect. Thank you.

We had Krispy Kreme doughnuts in personalised boxes

Why an hour or so before food? People will be very hungry. I agree that savoury snacks are the way to go, but a couple of hours of drinking on a virtually empty stomach isn't a great idea.
