What have I forgotten?

I'm in the middle of sorting it, MiL (to be) is round for lunch on Sunday and the last time she and I were talking about it, I felt so unprepared!

But she does have that effect on me...

So I want to be prepared. I have a notebook ready and waiting for the list of things I've already thought about and have already done, but I just know that she'll ask about something that I'll have missed. So, have I missed something.

Venue - done, given them timings, etc.
Food - sorted, venue providing specific menu
Cake - friend doing top layer, rest needs ordering from Patisserie Valerie (assuming they don't go bust!)
Dress - on order
Bridesmaids - got, need to sort out dresses
Photographer - being done by a friend - need to discuss actual shots wanted;
Hair - being done by a friend - need to discuss style and price for bridesmaids
Flowers - she said she'd do the tables, but I need to find a florist for the bouquet/buttonholes
Music - I'm putting a playlist together so we can save on a DJ (I hope, this may change...)
Cars - haven't thought about this, but DP mentioned it the other day. I was just going to sort out a taxiBlush Have I mentioned I'm trying to cut costs?

Oh god, this looks far too short a list!Confused

Makeup
Invitations

Can’t think of anything else off the top of my head. When are you getting married? Congratulations 😊

Mumshappy · 11/01/2019 21:02

Anyone to video? Invitations? Are you having favours? Idea of numbers - list of day and night guests. Music for ceremony if getting married at venue. Are you having readings?

DonaldDucksTowel · 11/01/2019 21:03

Rings!

IDontCareRightNow · 11/01/2019 21:03

Rings? I'm getting married in May so am cross checking my list with yours Wink

IDontCareRightNow · 11/01/2019 21:04

Oh and suits?

Creatureofthenight · 11/01/2019 21:07

Best man/ushers (prob DP sorting)
Witnesses
Guest list/Seating plan
Favours (if having)
Accommodation and travel for guests - depends very much on where venue is - do you need to block book accommodation, provide info for guests?

PiningForTheFjords · 11/01/2019 21:07

I'd advise a video. I didn't record mine and wish I had

Obsidian77 · 11/01/2019 21:08

Insurance

MrsWembley · 11/01/2019 21:15

Wow! Thanks for speedy replies!

What do people think about favours? A friend of mine spent a looong time over favours and I don't know if anyone noticed them Sad

Yes to lists of local hotels. Those who need sorting will be sorted, everyone else is capable of sorting themselves and I'll include details on the invitationsSmile

Guest list sorted, but we need to agree on the invitations. DP is involved in that bit, hence the lack of a decision...

Is a video a good idea? Not really considered this.

Witnesses! Hadn't thought of that. Got the registrar booked, but completely forgot about the rest of that bitBlush

Packs for out-of-town visitors (map with hotel/venue/car parks, take away numbers).

A pretty box to put monetary gifts in (a friend requested gift vouchers for X place as they wanted to renovate their kitchen, the box was filed with envelopes).

Guestbook to sign, I love reading ours.

Thank you cards for ...thanks!

Have you written your own vows or speech?

Congratulations and I hope you have a marvellous day.

We didn't bother with favours.

Of the weddings I have been to there have been:

  • set of three candles tied with a ribbon.
  • packet of candy cigarettes
  • handmade soap full of bits of flowers
  • organza bag of sugared almonds
  • around 5 weddings with no favours!

Totally, totally useless tbh. The bride (never the groom) obsesses over these and they take up a lot of faff and headspace and they mean nothing.

SailAwayWithMeHuni · 11/01/2019 21:24

Your own accommodation for wedding night?
Transport plan, how you’ll both get to and from the venue(s)
Reception entertainment
Dress accessories
Engagement photoshoot
Shoes

Luzina · 11/01/2019 21:26

Ive done a wedding website with all info re accommodation etc etc. I used gettingmarried.co.uk

Im getting married in april and am less prepared than you...

WinterWife · 11/01/2019 21:38

One thing I almost forgot was gifts for the parents flowers for the mothers as apparently this is traditional and whatever you decide for the fathers.

Disfordarkchocolate · 11/01/2019 21:45

We did crackers as favours and put in little poems, magic fish and sweets. Doubled up as place cards. Went down very well but as a rule I don't think favours are needed, something for small children to do is more useful.

Normandy144 · 11/01/2019 21:48

Don't bother with favours, put the money towards a DJ instead (or band if you can afford it).

Make sure you have plenty of people to give you a hand the morning and day after with everything. Most people volunteer for beforehand but no one thinks or is around for the day after.
