Venue up for sale

Hi All

Looking for other people's views....

We have almost decided on our wedding venue for certain but heard that it was up for sale. I messaged the venue and got the following response. Would other still go ahead or would this put people off?

I can confirm that the hotel is up for sale, we are very confident in our response to you, if you chose to go ahead with booking your wedding with us, your wedding would be very much safe and even if there was agreement to sell ( which there is not at this stage) the ownership of the business would not change for some time. Even if the ownership did change, the business will continue as the hotel is being sold as a going concern. We are proactively taking new wedding bookings for next year and beyond.

I'd be extremely nervous... presumably any contract would be with the current owner which would/could become invalid whatever their best intentions when they sell.

When is your wedding, so how feasible is a sale before then?

Also, would it invalidate wedding insurance if you know this is a possibility when you book?

And whilst it could all work out really well, you have no idea what the new owners will be like, what. Level of service they'll provide, how good they will be to deal with.

If you're an easy going chilled out person happy to take the risk, then perhaps go into it, but I know I couldn't have coped with the stress in the run up to my wedding.

Sorry not to be more positive, but I wouldn't...

I wouldn’t. Anything could happen if it came under new management.

I know one person whose venue was sold & they ended up with a super bargain wedding, at the price they'd originally agreed but with much more upmarket management.

So it can work both ways Smile
