Bras?

Can anyone help. I’ve not chosen a dress yet (wedding isn’t until 2020) but have looked at a few and will most likely need a strapless bra, however I’ve never had a good experience with them. I’m 40D my boobs aren’t great and I’m overweight and flabby (obviously I will try and lose weight but I’ve been saying that since I was 20 so I’m being realistic). A lot of dresses are low back (I am planning on a cape / cover up of some sort anyway) but how do you wear a strapless low back bra? I’m stressing a little bit because all I can see is a lovely dress and a scaffold type bra with enormous straps I usually have to wear to get decent tits! Please help lol.

This stick on backless bra is really good - stays on all day. I am 34E and it worked really well.
Alternatively you can get cups sewn into your wedding dress, depending on the style. But I felt more secure knowing I was wearing a bra. Just depends what you're more comfortable with.
You can get low back bras but they are still generally too high and will show through on the low back wedding dresses.

If you're near London go to Rigby & Peller.

Thanks @boux it’s good to know the stick on ones do work for larger sizes. I’ve always been wary of them.
Thank you for your help ladies.

You can get a strap thing that makes a bra low back, it kind of crosses over at the back then goes round the front.
Google "low back converter"

Or would you consider a dress that doesn't require uncomfortable or impractical underwear?

mugalug · 15/10/2018 20:39

The holy grail of backless underwear

Thanks @mugalug!

DollyWilde · 22/10/2018 17:22

Honestly I’m a 34E and I never go out in public without a bra but my wedding dress supported them all by itself, so worth asking your dress shop when you buy! I was amazed Grin

JessHamilton · 22/10/2018 17:23

@ravelLG before you try stick on cups/ 'bras', read this...

There’s a shop called The Pantry in Islington London (also online and in Liberty) that day they’ll guarantee to fit your bridal underwear for your dress.

TooDamnSarky · 22/10/2018 17:25

I agree with Dolly.
I'm a much bigger cup size than you and I didn't need a bra. I didn't believe it would work and bought an array of strapless bras to try on but was ultimately convinced it was better with no bra. The dress had ample scaffolding:)

JessHamilton · 22/10/2018 17:46

I agree with @Toodamnsarky. It all depends on your dress. Corseted dresses have support built in. However, backless dresses do not as they have an open back and hence no allowance for a back band.

Cliveybaby · 23/10/2018 17:13

Haha @mugalug that's more than I spent on the dress!

JessHamilton · 23/10/2018 18:25

@cliveybaby haha, where was the dress from?

Heismyopendoor · 23/10/2018 18:27

I had my strapless bra sewn into my dress but it was just a regular back.

MrsRubyMonday · 23/10/2018 18:35

I'm a similar size to you OP and I bought a M&S strapless bra for trying on dresses but the one I chose was so structured I didn't need it. I put it on on the day and then took it off again, wasn't worth the discomfort with an already heavy dress. Buy a cheap one, Asda do them in lots of sizes, for trying on and then splash for a good one if your dress needs it.

Cliveybaby · 23/10/2018 21:56

@JessHamilton JJshouse, about £200. Although to be fair it'll be £50-100 on alterations too.

Forgotten about this thread sorry ladies. Thank you for the input.

Thanks @mugalug I'll definitely check that out.
